Day of rest today, so jauntily set off on the tour bus to see old Poznan (apparently the birthplace of Poland and Polish Catholicism). So far so good.

  • Twin-spired cathedral, check.
  • Town hall with strange Masonic symbols fruity enough to get Dan Brown out of his writer's block, check.
  • Two clockwork goats butting heads at noon, to the mournful arpeggios of a lone bugler, check.
  • Flustered colleague unable to get hotel reception to do anything right, check.
  • 2nd member of delegation carted off to hospital for examination and observation, check.
  • Jar of pickled squash and dried sausage for smuggling past customs on way home, check.
  • Visit to what was voted "most beautiful shopping centre in the world", check.
  • American diner lunch, check.
  • Vodka purchase for the homies, check.
  • Anxious return to hotel, check.
  • Poring over statistics, check.
  • So much to do and no clue where to begin, check.
  • Decide surreal humour is only antidote, check.
  • Watch Eddie Izzard on youtube while supping on muesli bars and mushroom soup, check.
  • Receive morale-boosting message from JJ, check.

Day in the life of, but tomorrow... ah, tomorrow things get dicey!
