(no subject)
while i was studying down near the water, a gander of geese slowly grazed towards me. their heads dart around the grass so quickly, it is hard to determine if they are really eating anything or not. here is a picture. it took them maybe 45 minutes to graze about 20 feet.

the one with it's head up is looking at a kayaker i think.
a little while later, a duck couple flew in almost right at me! here they are waddling about.
and then napping.
the female is close enough to where my camera phone is about 12" away. i am thinking maybe that they could smell the orange or granola bars in my bag and thought they would get some!
later on a dog was being walked close by and chased the birds away.
