I was talking with my friend
some_other_dave about Xi, a lapsang souchong liqueur, and how neither of us liked it all that much. We both agreed that it was kind of boring and not very strongly tea flavored (let alone smoky). This led me to try making a tea infused vodka. I don't have any lapsang souchong at the moment, but I do have some loose leaf Earl Grey, so a generous pinch of that went into a partial bottle of vodka (about 6 ounces) I've got in the fridge.
After one day, the color was like weak tea. After two days the color is like strong tea and there is a subtle Earl Grey aroma. I think this is going to work out really well. In fact, I'm hoping that dumping some tea into the Tito's I've got will improve that incredibly disappointing vodka.
Editing to clarify: I put tea into Belvedere and it's working, so I also put some tea into some Tito's, an inferior vodka in need of improvement.
