Okay so to get back into a habit of blogging and because it's one of those lazy afternoons, I'm gonna share what I'm reading or going to read in the near future.
Currently reading: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
This is one of those books that I've read lots of bits and pieces of but never read all the way through. I've also seen the old BBC tv series (not the Keira Knightly film though) and that Lost In Austen thing (which was odd). But I just like the story. I like Austen's humour and whilst a lot of people think her books are samey and aren't very feminist since they always end in marriage, I can't help but like it. And no, I'm not going to read the zombie version. It's just the same point of "Oooo! There's zombies" over and over.
Next to read: Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett
This one is a little embarassing because I got it last Christmas. Uni got in the way and other stuff and so on. But I'm looking forward to finally reading this. I like Discworld, particularly Soul Music, and it's something I want to read more of.
Then: The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya by Nagaru Tanigawa
You may remember than this was part of my convention swag. Unfortunately not been able to get hold of the first book but I'm gonna read this anyway.
Then (although I kinda already started it): Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
And here we have one of my favourite books. I read it for the first time about this time last year and the day I finished it I met Neil Gaiman. That was cool. Anyway when I went and did my job hunting in Central London I was on the tube a lot and so wanted to read this on the tube, because I'm a sad geek like that. So I did and now I've started it I've got to read it through. That and I just like it.
And I'm reading bits and pieces at the same time as other stuff: It's Only A Movie by Mark Kermode
This is something I got recently. It's described as an "autobiography through film" which grabbed me as a film buff. Also Mark Kermode is a film critic I quite like, he's a huge horror expert, and so I was curious. It's a pick up and read little bits of book, hence I'm okay with reading it at the same time as others.
Then when I finish Neverwhere: Feed by Mira Grant
Saving this for last because at the rate I'm going by the time I get to this entry in my summer reading list it'll probably be October and just in time for Halloween. I heard about this a while ago as an advert on a zombie browser game I was playing. So I checked it out and it seemed cool. It's part post-apocalyptic fiction, part political thriller. And despite the fact that thriller's aren't really my thing everything I've heard about this I've liked. Basically 20 years after the zombocalypse bloggers are the only source of reliable information and news. Siblings Georgia and Shaun (yeah, due to the lessons learnt from his zombie films George A Romero saved a lot of lives. So lots of kids in this future are named George or Georgia. And I guess named after other zombie films too) are the best and have been invited to join the press for a Presidential campaign. Political hijinks, conspiricies and the undead ensue. And like everything on my list I'm looking forward to reading it.
So those are my books that I'm going to read......
Guess I'd better get off the computer and get on with it eh? Gonna try and not be on the computer that much tomorrow.
Peace out
