ER Results

ER was long ... the triage nurse wasn't helpful.... she made me feel dumb for coming in and I cried but glad I stayed.

The doctor says that I have sciatica and that he suspects I might have some leaking discs in my spine.. possibly neck and low spine. I had weak reflex in my right foot. My blood pressure was very very high... they think b/c of the pain or possibly the Indomethicin. URGH. So now they want me to monitor my BP.. though I'm not sure how because I don't have a BP machine! I'm supposed to follow up with my PCP on this too. They said if my dystolic (lower number) stays above 100.. it's def. related to the Indocin. So NOW I find a NSAID I like and this is what happens. He wants me to see a neurosurgeon and gave me two referrals to one. We will see how that goes with CMS. He says my muscles in my back are all spastic and tight as heck. He felt down my spine and said I was in knots. Guess I could have said Duh to that one. He wanted to know if I have had MRI done and I said no.. .didn't fit. ugh. He says that with the disc, they can do things like draw off the fluid and stuff... YUK.

I had written out a list of my symptoms in advanced and what happened and he actually had read it. He told me it was very helpful and to def. take that to the neurosurgeon when I go.

They gave me a shot of morphine or was it dilaudid.. i can't remember.. i think morphine because I told him I'm already on Ms Contin so it would fit in with what I'm on. Also Phenegren to help nausea and my blood pressure did come down once my pain was better under control.

I'm supposed to lay on my side with the pillow between my legs or pillow under my legs laying on my back to relieve my spine and try and keep the spine spaced out. Use ice and maybe heat in about 2 weeks if it helps me. Also. try to avoid coughing/sneezing (ya think?).. rest .. rest.. rest... try and move if I can... no lifting, pushing... nothing ... and he says I need massage done to work on my muscles and try to help relieve some of the pressure over time. Keep taking the Robaxin, etc and might have to change NSAIDS depending on my BP.

So that's what happened.... I'm dellerious from the extra morphine in my system.... but at least the pain is a lot better. Amazingly, I still hurt to walk.. but I don't care... lol.... Im going to take my muscle relaxants in a moment..

I'm exhausted and still debilitated. Still not sure how long this is going to last and what exactly is going to happen next but that's where I'm at for now.

Since I posted my last journal public unknowingly, I will post this one too. So everyone can read my whoas.. lol.... moan.. moan...... play the worlds smallest violin....

jra, er, pain
