I just got back from physical therapy again. I have been walking a lot on one crutch since my therapy on Monday, and am getting pretty good at it. It's hard when I first get up after sitting for a while, but once I get started, I don't have to put much weight on the crutch. However, I have been really tired out in the evenings from this. Tonight she got me to walk a little way with no crutches. However, I don't think I am quite strong enough to do this yet, and was not able to do it very well.
There is a huge icy patch by our front steps where the icicles in the gutter are dripping. I hope I don't end up trapped inside the house because of this!
Sunday I called Jack and asked him to start thinking about who he would want to invite to his 90th birthday party. I was thinking he would figure out about 20 people, and Michael and I would somehow have to put together a luncheon for them. However, he called back tonight, and his short list has 24 people, and his long list has 70. If he has 70, we would still have it at the house, which is well set up for large groups, but we would have it catered and it would be a lighter meal. It is easier to have it at the house because then we don't have to worry about reserving someplace for it, and we also don't have to worry about how many people come. He is going to have invitations printed just like he did for his 80th.
It seems wrong for a 90 year old to have to plan his own birthday party, but I guess that is the way it is. He is going to call Sharon for advice, but is going to forbid her from doing anything other than advice. Right now he is a lot healthier than me, Sharon, or Pat, and it is also difficult for any of us to do anything because we are all out of town. However, it doesn't sound like he is going to do anything terribly difficult, so I don't feel too guilty about him having to do this.
