So, screen printing workshop today. It's very cool. We learned how to make screens for cheap and such. Apparently you can get material for cheaper in Toronto (of course). I'll probably take photos and post it all on DA later. We could call it variations on James Dean. My best print, I think, its the one I did accidentally on a garbage bag. I'm also not washing my screen and letting the paint dry, because it looks pretty damn cool with all the reds and yellows against the turquoise emulsion. We did photo transfers, no cutting involved.
On my way there, by Bayview station, on this miraculously warm, sunny, and breezy fall day, I came across a little patch of vetch and clover, still in bloom, still smelling wonderfully sweet, like a little reserve of summer amidst the brown grass and fallen leaves. I never realized how sweet summer smells, I guess because you come into it gradually after spring. But in comparison to the tang of fall, it just smelled so warm and sweet. It surprised me, at first I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, until I looked around me and saw the purple and yellow spikes. It was like drinking warm tea with honey.
Darkroom workshop (training) on the 8th, so I guess I'd better learn to use my camera and take some pictures.
Now on to this essay proposal... I think I'm out of time and I really haven't started. Of course, I still don't really feel any pressure not to read Sluggy Freelance instead of working. It's not due til Tuesday, really.
