Today

So I'm back from film. It was such a good class today! The lecture passed by so quickly, it was a blessing. I'm finishing my cold spaghetti with my latin music on... we watched a Spanish film (Women on the Verge of a Mental Breakdown) which had a soundtrack full of those songs sung by women in spanish about utter heartbreak... horribly clichéed verses (they were included in the subtitles which was slightly confusing at times) but nonetheless very cool. I came out of class with the music stuck in my head, so here I am. It was all highly dramatic and hysterical... burning of beds, braking of windows, losing of virginity in dreams, drugging policemen with sleeping pills mixed into gespacho, pregnancy, a crazy former lover, various people cheating on various other people... very wild stuff. We also watched part of Carrie, the King and Queen section and the revenge section, looking at colours and special effects. But by far the best part was Pas de deux. I was absolutely enchanted. My mouth was hanging open, I'm embarrassed to say. The effects were just so cool. All of those images were created my one dancer and herself, or two dancers, and a whole bunch of cinematographic effects. In the beginning, it's just her, and then she has a shadow self, then a mirror image, then she goes backward, and then he joins in. All you see is the white outline of their bodies from the light. By the end, each pose where all of their shadows finally come together is like a moment of stillness in chaos, or of clarity in confusion, when the human form would again become discernible among all the motion. So cool.

The rest of the day was alright. I couldn't sleep last night for the same reason Lewis Carroll couldn't sleep. He wasn't a pedophile... children were the ones who didn't laugh at his stutter. He could pose them, dress the, and undress them like dolls for his photographs. His nude photos were chaperoned. So I was informed in English today. Anyhow, I slept through half of music, but went for the last half and learned about intervals. It's good that I actually went because that's where my theory starts getting a little sketchy. I have a midterm next week though, so I can't pull a stunt like that again. English was pretty good. I didn't have time to finish eating supper before film, so I had to let it sit til I got back. Despite all this, which might have made a bad day some other time, I'm in a wonderful mood and I'm very glad of that fact. :D

Now here's to some sleep tonight! Cheers!
