Wow, what a weekend it has been!
Saturday morning started a bit earlier than planned since they decided to finish tearing up the concrete on the other side of our complex. I guess it worked out for the better though, as Andrew and I made it to the Farmer's Market. The trip to the market was even a success as we came home with some onions, peppers and a butternut squash (I'm still deciding on what I want to do with he squash)!
After the Farmer's Market I made a quick run into the fish to fix some for a couple of experiments I have running. I'll defiantly have no shortage of things to work on next week that's for sure! While I was in the lab frantically chasing pigment inhibited embryos around a dish, Andrew was wandering around downtown. He finally found not one, but two pairs of replacement sandals (actually flip flops). Now the trick will be to convince him to throw the old sandals away!
Once we got home it was time for the OSU game.....I have no idea who they played, but I sat with Andrew while he watched it (no, I wasn't really watching since I was knitting!). The good news is that OSU won (here's hoping the Browns can do the same thing when they play today....update....the Brown's are currently losing).
After the game I sat down to grade homework for the class I'm TAing for. Overall, I'd say they were an improvement from the previous homework assignment (i.e. they're figuring out what we want!).
With my work completed for the day it was time to sit down and watch the Cubs game. I won't bore you with the details of the game, but I will say that the Cubs played well and won! This means they've officially clinched the title of National Central Division Champs for the second year in a row! I must admit that it was bittersweet as my Grandfather wasn't around to see it (my mom called me in tears after the Cubs won), but I know he's watching it from upstairs and cheering them on to victory.
Sunday hasn't been as glamorous as Saturday, but it has been productive. Andrew left mid-afternoon to head up to Cedar Rapids for the bar (this is where he goes to watch the Brown's games when they're not on TV). Since he left, I've managed to get the wash finished and get the drafts of my figures put together for my paper. I'm now contemplating whether I want to work on some of the text. I'm thinking I should probably switch gears a bit and work on my research summary for my Thesis Committee meeting which is in a few weeks (here's hoping they tell me I'm on track!). The good news of all this is that this paper is pretty close to being finished (if you ignore the fact that it's not yet written!). I have a list of things that need to be done to round out the experiments, so hopefully we can work on getting this thing out the door in the next few months, yea!!!
Well, I think that's all I have for now. Guess I should go plan my experiments for the week, plus maybe do a little writing on something!
Hope you had a great weekend!
