Classes resuming already?

So I really thought I was going to get back to being more regular in my posting, but apparently that hasn't happened yet:P We'll see if I can get better as the fall semester gets under way.....

The summer has been a busy one, filled with massive amounts of time in the lab. I really pushed it this summer with getting data, unfortunately things didn't always work, but that's science! My story is slowly coming together and I am starting to think about putting it into paper form, though their are still some considerable holes (here's hoping things start to work soon!). I also went to two conferences, Midwest Regional Developmental Meeting (here in Iowa City) and the International Zebrafish Meeting (in Milwaukee, WI) and got a lot from those meetings!

More recently, Andrew and I took about a week off to head back to Ohio for a short vacation before the semester gets underway. It was so wonderful to take a few days and not think! We spent out time with Andrew's folks and mostly just spent our days lounging around. We did make it to a movie, finally seeing the second installment of the Narnia movies. Plus we went swimming in his mom's new pool (the water was a bit cold for my taste, but we had fun). On our way back to Iowa we made a two hour stop at Wittenberg, where I was able to catch up with some of my former Professors. This stop also gave us the opportunity to get off he road, as we had a bit of a rally race going on around us on the interstate, and just didn't feel safe with cars passing us at speeds over 100mph!

Of course I would be remissed if I didn't mention all the Olympics we've been watching. I'd say the highlights were defiantly Micheal Phelps races, but I did also enjoy the gymnastics!

Alas all good things come to end.....classes resume on Monday and the students are back in full force (sigh...). I'll be TAing this semester, so it will be busy with that and may not get as much done in the lab as I'd like, but only time will tell
