Amy pushed her hair out of her face and waited. She was sitting on the locker room floor, waiting for something to happen. She wanted to go back to work, and she didn’t want to go home and sleep. She’d been sitting in that same spot for two hours, her eye lids dropping every now and then. Mac had told her to go home, that she needed sleep, that she was taking things to hard too fast. She needed a distraction though. She needed to stop thinking.

She needed to get Danny out of her head.

Amy jumped as the locker room door opened for the first time since she walked in there. She swore under her breath when Danny walked in and smashed her head back against her locker, the sound echoing off the walls, making Danny jump out of his skin.

"Jesus,- Amy?"

"‘Sup," muttered Amy in response, turning her head away from Danny as he headed for his locker. He frowned at her and looked over his shoulder to see if she was talking to someone else, because she’d never just greeted him with half a hello, it was always something like ‘Hi, Danny’ or ‘Hello, dear’ (if she was making fun of him).

"Didn’t Mac tell you to go home?"

"I didn’t feel like it," said Amy, still not looking at him, actually she was looking anywhere but him.

"Are you mad at me?" he asked, pulling off his shirt and swapping it with a different one. Amy looked over at him right then, getting slightly distracted.

"I-ah...yeah?" why was she mad at him again?

Danny chuckled under his breath and pulled his shirt on over his head, snapping Amy out of her stupor. Oh, that’s right. You dumped me, you sorry excuse for a-
"What are you mad at me for?" he asked her, sitting on the bench in front of her, staring down at her on the floor.

"I hate you," said Amy simply.

"You hate me?"

"Yup."

"If you hate me then why are you still in the building?" he asked her, shifting on the bench uncomfortably.

Amy shook her head and pulled her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them. "I don’t want to go home."

"Go home, Amy," said Danny, standing up. "You need some sleep."

"So that’s it?" asked Amy, watching Danny head for the door. "You’re going to be all hostile to me from now on?"

"I’m not being hostile, I’m concerned," said Danny with a sigh, turning back around to face her. "What do you want me to say?"

"You could say nothing, and leave me alone!" cried Amy hysterically, burrowing her face in her arms. "Just get me something to do-"

"Go home, Amy," Danny said loudly, taking a step towards her. "This is me being hostile, just go home and stop feeling sorry from yourself."

"I’m not," said Amy, her voice muffled by her arms. "I’m not going home."

"Why?" asked Danny. "What’s so terrible about going home-?"

"You’re not there," said Amy, lifting her head up again with tears smeared down her face. "Why go home and have my nightmares when I could just live here and work myself to death? Mac does it, why can’t I?"

"You’re not Mac, kid," said Danny, walking back over and sitting down next to her. Amy looked sideways at him.

"I’m also not a kid, Danny," said Amy gently, leaning towards him and kissing his cheek. "Thanks."

"For what?"

"Clarifying that I am in fact, not a workaholic."
