1. I honestly do love Anders, but he is not some asslicking-worthy saint for putting up with so much of Starbuck's shit. She is such a bitch to him only because he's weak enough to let her (again, and again, and again) and this doesn't make her have much respect for him.
And he's not "good for her" as opposed to anyone else either. Kara's problem is not Lee, it's Kara. And she's going to keep being the same Kara as long as she's with someone who tolerates everything she does.
2. Starbuck isn't crazy. Obsessed is a better description. But Roslin hasn't been terribly much more sane-seeming in the way she's pursued what her visions tell her either. The difference is Starbuck isn't the president who can give seemingly crazy orders without anyone having to believe her.
In fact, I'd say Starbuck is healthier than we've ever seen her because she is not only starting to understand the purpose she has but trying to fulfill it. She's finally devoted to something that means a lot to her besides drinking, fucking, and being able to take her anger out on some Raiders every day.
3. I wouldn't love this show nearly as much as I do if it weren't for all the religious stuff in it. For me, it can never have too much of it (well, Baltar's "You are perfect" bullshit doesn't count). I think a lot of fans who don't appreciate this aspect of the show or are just missing how important it is are way too cynical and reasonable with their speculations about things. I think Starbuck coming back from the dead was a miracle and that's not lame writing. I think Head Six is Baltar's burning bush and the prophecies are true and what everyone saw in the temple of Athena was not some kind of trick planetarium lightshow. And I think people who are watching this show not ready to have to accept things like this sometimes are...well, doing it wrong.
OH YEAH POTC
1. Though I was initially kind of disappointed by the ending of Elizabeth's story, I'm fine with it now. I don't know why it seems at first like she had to stay on that one island forever, but she didn't. And nothing indicates that she went respectable again instead of being all piratey still either. She could have done whatever she wanted during those ten years. Except sleep around, but if she has a problem with that she shouldn't have gotten married anyway. The PotC screenwriters were very inspired by the ideas of Sartre for these movies, and with this in mind the way the Will/Elizabeth relationship ends up really just says a lot about the freedom everyone gives up with romantic commitment rather than saying anything sexist.
2. AWE wasn't a disappointment for me as a Sparrabeth shipper. There's some kind of subtextual stuff still in there, and a lot of the moments between them at the end were lovely. He keeps his distance from her a whole lot in the beginning (because hello, he became really attracted to her and it ended up getting him killed and he's kind of pissed, lol) but by the end you can see they clearly both care for each other.
DING DING DING, WE HAVE A WINNER. Kara/Anders is not inherently healthier than Kara/Lee. I don't hate Anders, although there are occasions where I bemoan his remaining presence on the show, but I have never bought the argument that K/A is a healthy relationship or inherently better than K/L. Kara walks all over Anders, and their relationship isn't healthier because he supposedly lets her be herself. Ugh.
