Today marks the second day in my attempt to start flossing regularly. Yesterday, I was reading the NYT online when I realized that it will have been a really long time since I got my teeth cleaned when I go back the US, and it will be quite awhile before I can get an appointment, so I have decided that I need to actually start taking care of my teeth. I am the pariah among my dentist's patients. She always remarks on how I have "such pretty teeth," but she despairs over the fact that I do not floss, except for when I have something stuck between my teeth. What can I say? I'm a brusher, not a flosser. This is all about to change, though. Partially due to the fact that I have a bottle of Listerine I need to use up in 4(!!!) days, I refuse to ever have a cavity and I need something to do other than pack, I have decided to institute a new program of flossing and mouthwash. So far, my gums are a little sore and irritated, but they feel really clean and are sore in a way that makes me think that they're happy rather than angry, and that will probably fade in not too long (I hope). Day two and counting.
