Warning: BoyxBoy love. Enough said.
Summary: Jonghyun's never believed in love, until...he fell in love with his friend's fiance.
[2] Key waited patiently and sometimes glanced at his watch. Jinki had called earlier, telling him he wanted to meet. He wasn’t sure if he felt the same, but it’s been several days after their engagement party and things were running pretty cold. They hardly talked on the phone anymore, and was busy with their own business. So he agreed.
Closing the thick book in front of him, Key sighed softly. He should get going now if he doesn’t want to be late. But even if he is late, supposedly it’s okay because Jinki was the one who should arrive first and wait anyway, if he’s a real gentleman. He didn’t know since when he looked things that way. It’s as if Key was gauging Jinki with someone else...
Standing up from the chair, Key grabbed his jacket and slowly walked to exit the library.
Almost half an hour later, he arrived at the pointed place, in front of a huge building. It was a working environment, people with ties and blazers spreaded all over the place. Clearly some of them who’s walking alone wanted to go home soon in this cold weather, and the group ones chatted about getting some booze first.
Key breathed and fished his hands to his jeans. It was getting colder.
Where is Jinki?
He grabbed his phone and almost dialed the number, but he hesitated. He shouldn’t call him just because he’s already here. It was Jinki who’s supposed to call him first. He should wait...but if he didn’t tell Jinki, how long he has to wait?
If it’s him, would he make me wait like this?
The thunder rumbled and without any warning, the rain started to hit the ground hard. Most of the pedestrians open their umbrella, continued walking, while others were quickly running to the side, looking for shelter.
Great. Now it’s raining. How am I supposed to go home?
Key started to shiver, his jacket was not that thick. He started to feel irritated at the older guy, for making him waiting like this. Key was wondering if it’s okay if he entered the building so he would stop shivering, but as the thought emerged, he saw Jinki’s car pullover and a moment later, a figure he knew walked closer.
“Key! I’m sorry! Have you waited long?”
Key just smiled and shook his head, although he couldn’t hide the fact that his nose was running cold. He kept his feeling inside perfectly. Once again he reminded himself, he shouldn’t be a burden to anyone else...
“Okay. Listen, I can’t be long, I have an appointment inside. Umma asked me if you’d like the decorior to be simple or elegant. And which do you prefer, soft yellow or blue?”
Key blinked.
“Key?”
“Th-that’s it?”
“Yes.”
“You..you could’ve just asked me on the phone...”, Key said in disbelief. You made me wasted my “Key Time” in the library and waited for you almost half an hour late. And that’s all you’ve got to say?
Jinki scratched his head. “Umma said I should meet you once in a while before it’s finally our wedding day, you know. Two months is like, almost sixty days away.”
So you meet me because your Umma told you to? Funny, I’m also engaged to you because my Umma told me to...
“Well, I gotta rush. Minho’s waiting for me inside. Maybe you should call my mother and tell her what you’d like,” Jinki smiled. “Oh! It’s raining hard. You should take a cab. Here.”
Jinki pulled out his wallet and grab a few bills, passing it to Key.
“Wait, I got money.”
“Nah, I insist,” Jinki waved his hand and touched Key’s shoulder. “Take care, Key.”
“Y-yeah. You too, Jinki-ssi...”
Jinki hurriedly walked inside, leaving Key alone outside.
Key sighed. So this must be the Choi’s office building. The first time his Umma told him he’s gonna marry the eldest son of Lee’s family, she told him that they’re extremely rich. They have been befriended with the Choi, also a rich one. Now Key realized she’s not joking. His family’s not that wealthy, but his father was a hard worker and acknowledged for his networking. And his father was Jinki’s father’s best friend.
But really... Jinki was not being a good husband-to-be... Key wasn’t sure if he was just being himself, innocent (duh!) or he’s not caring and unromantic. Still shivering, he zipped his jacket and decided to look for a taxi as soon as possible.
A voice stopped him.
“Key?”
Key turned around and dazzled by the handsome figure before him.
“J-jong?”
“Hey. What are you doing here?”
“Um, I could ask the same about you...”
“Well, this is my office.”
Oh. So he and Minho work together?
Jonghyun noticed that Key was shivering, he quickly took off his coat and wrapped the latter in it. “You’re cold. You should bring a thicker jacket, you know. It’s raining season.”
Deg.
Key’s heart pounded without permission. His brain allowed it to. “Y-yes...”
Warm.
“You’re going home?”
“Yes...”
“All alone?”
“Yes...”
“By what?”
“Yes... I-I mean, taxi.”
Key blushed cutely and Jonghyun smiled.
“Mind if I take you home? I’ll be a real nice driver for you.”
Ah...
Jonghyun raised his eyebrows, waiting for an answer. Key couldn’t help but feeling vulnerable for the second time under the gaze. It was like Jonghyun was able to guess what’s on his mind. Key had been a very closed person for a long time, but this guy...this guy who just knew him a few days ago and had confessed, and had kissed him, told and treated him in the way that Key liked.
Key pondered for a while, Jinki won’t mind, right? It’s just a ride home... It’s not like he considered Jinki as someone special in his life, but the status they’re having right now is complicated. Key was just trying to be a good bride. Inner Key rolled his eyes.
Yeah right.
“You think he’d call?”
Another right guess from Jonghyun.
Jinki said he had an appointment with Minho anyway, so he might be busy and took a while...besides, if he calls, Key could just lie or not picking up. It’s not like he does anything wrong...
Key shook his head. “Is it okay if you drive me home?”

Key was starting to sneeze a lot in the car, so Jonghyun made a stop at a cafe to grab a cup of hot chocolate.
“I’m sorry, but I’m really okay,” Key looked down, feeling guilty.
“They got the best chocolate here, you should try it,” Jonghyun said. “And stop saying you’re sorry. There’s nothing to be really sorry about, except that you should be sorry for making me fall in love with you so deeply.”
Key felt his cheeks warmed and his heart raced.
Jonghyun was blunt. But it was good, by the way. Whatever escaped his mouth, Key was willing to listen. Even if it was a lie, Key was willing to believe it. He felt like smiling, listening to Jonghyun’s stories...
Key could never be a blunt person. He always tend to keep his feeling to himself. Nobody had ever really seen him cry or angry before, not even his parents. That’s why he felt a bit envy for Jonghyun’s personality. If only he was able to open up himself that easy...
They sat at a corner table, facing each other. Due to the hard rain outside, the cafe was pretty crowded so Jonghyun chose the spot where they won’t be bothered. Although it’s not a date, but it does seem like a date. One of the girls commented how they look so good together when they were passing by a table. Another whispered how hot Jonghyun was, and Key had to admit silently to himself, that he is.
Key liked the fact that Jonghyun treated him like a precious jewelry, made him feeling wanted. The nodded he gave when Key was telling him something. The smiles he made whenever their gazes locked. The attention he gave only to Key, it’s like Jonghyun was only focusing on him, and him only.
For the first time in a long time, Key smiled truly happy.

“This is it?”, Jonghyun asked as he stopped his car in front of a medium sized house. It was not too big, but it wasn’t small either. The design was simple and it looked cozy. The rain had subsided, but Jonghyun insisted Key bringing his coat home. He could always return it later some other time.
And it would be another reason for meeting you.
“Yes...”, Key unbuckled his seatbelt and smiled. “Um...do you-“
“I’d love to, but you should get some rest. Maybe next time.”
“God, stop doing it.”
“Do what?”
“Guessing what’s on my mind...”
Jonghyun chuckled. “It’s written all over your face clearly. I’m just making it easier for you.”
Key puffed his cheeks and Jonghyun laughed some more.
“And you should stop doing it.”
“Do what?”
“Keeping all things inside, you know.”
Key looked surprised. “H-how did you...”
Jonghyun didn’t answer, instead he took Key’s hand and entwining them together.
“I love you,” Jonghyun smiled and caressed Key’s cheek.
Key held his breath. They were silent. Key believed that the only sound right now was the raindrops on the car and his fast beating heartbeats. He almost fainted when Jonghyun leaned closer and whispered,
“May I?”
Jonghyun’s finger was lifting up his chin. Key nodded softly.
It was like heaven when their lips touched. Jonghyun tasted so...manly. The smell of coffee he just had tonight, musky cologne and soft lips were all mixing together. Key never had a kiss this sweet. The hot chocolate wasn’t even as sweet as this.
Key let out a soft moan when Jonghyun started to deepen the kiss, asking for permission. He let him, and his heart almost blew up at the touch of their tongues. They say French kiss is a mess. For Key, it was like a drug, highly addictive.
Jonghyun kissed him in a gentle way, slowly guiding him with his pace, and Key could feel the love in their kiss. The feeling of love filled his heart so much that he started to squeeze their entwining fingers together, and suddenly a thought struck his head, as Key realized something cold was on his finger.
His engagement ring.
Key broke the kiss suddenly, started pulling back. Jonghyun looked confused.
“No...”
Key closed his eyes, shaking his head.
“Th-this is wrong, I am...engaged...”
Even though he was the one who said the word, he felt deeply stabbed by it. Key was hurt.
"I'm...I'm sorry..."
But Key didn't want the kiss to stop.
“It’s-it’s a mistake...Jjong...”
Jonghyun slowly took off the ring of Key’s ring finger and tossed it in his coat’s pocket. Key's eyes widened in surprise.
“If it’s a mistake, then you’re the best mistake I’ve ever made.”
With the engagement ring sitting silently in the pocket, the kiss continued.
