There's this 'why I am a dork' meme thing making the rounds, right. And, like, I hardly need to make a *list* of reasons for you, do I? But here's proof #3792 just in case:

So I'm reading blythely's christen. And in my defence I'm half way through my second glass of pinot noir. Just for some background, it turns out that although roughly speaking we do ( Read more... )

It's one of my fav's too, definitely. But I think I might just have ruined it for myself. It's now and forever going to be the yowls and cucumbers fic. Heee.

Er, not that I don't love both yowls and cucumbers. :-)

Chair. Good Yes!

I make a lovely salad with yowls, cucumbers, and goat's cheese, doused in a delicious champagne vinaigrette.

the part wot makes you a dork is not that your eye drifted over a word and made it something else, it's the fact that you can explain the phenomenon using the correct scientific terms.

just so we're clear.

Oh, absolutely. It's the fact that I immediately thought 'erroneous parafoveal preview' and began mentally calculating the precise levenshtein distance between 'crumbles' and 'cucumbers'. And very nearly footnoted this post with the appropriate journal references.

We're very, very clear. :-)

what the motherfuck is leviathon distance?

It's an algorithm for calculating the extent to which two letter strings are formally identical. Sounds fancy pants, but it's very similar to what you do when you play those word games where you transform 'arse' into 'head' in the shortest number of steps.

So, for example, the L distance between Linnaea and Rockstar is 7, because that's the number of characters you have to change into something else to get from one to the other.

And boy isn't that going to come in handy in your daily life. Heee.

While browsing the law books at the used bookstore today, I read the spine title "Cases and Problems in Medical Malpractice" as "Problems with Male Pregnancy." :)

Yes, but we all know you're obsessed with the MPREgS. You probably read 'appropriate recourse can only be determined with reference to...' as 'draco wants to bear harry's ass babies'

That said, I'm sure there are many, many problems with male pregnancy and clearly someone *should* write a book about it.

notice how I snuck 'bear' in there? clever, no?
