i have been offered a job working as a grad assiatant on a 1.5 million dollar grant for the next three years. it is a paid affair and i want it so bad i can taste it, BUT apparently Chapman University does not allow "staff" to also be grad assistants. i am a "part-time faculty" member from the english 99 class i teach, and i am a "staff" member at the writing center. or so i was to assume. if i find out that i cannot tutor in the writing center i will not be heartbroken, but if i am told that i cannot teach the class i will cry...pretty hard.
i have sent out emails. i need answers. i need to know that i can do this grant and teach while i go to grad school. i want/need/can't comprehend life without them both. i may be whining, but for good reason. this is the opportunity of a lifetime...both of them......i want both.
chapman has the last word. as for now the professor i will be working for is willing to take action and find an exception to the rule, if not make one. let's see how much power we really have here. let's make amanda's resume fantastic...let's give her the chance of a lifetime.
