Title: Scarlett Wind
Fandom: Original, unfinished fic
Characters: Unnamed narrator, Scarlett Wind
Summary: Beautiful, but simple-minded.
_____
Scarlett Wind was pretty. Very pretty indeed. Some, of an age and gender tending towards such language, would call her adorably pretty. Others, people of fewer adjectives and often of the opposite sex, would simply say that Scarlett Wind was... yes, pretty. Very pretty indeed.
However, word on the street was also that she was rather simple-minded. One could (and perhaps ought to) question whether this notion stemmed from the fact that the citizens of Old Wellscreek didn't care much for how a young girl, merely 18 of age, was living independently amongst them as if this wasn't in itself a big scandal, or if really Scarlett wass as excentric as beautiful. If faced with this inquiry, any Old Wellscreek inhabitant, from the mayor to the local old crow, would cross themselves and laugh. An unmarried girl, living alone in the house left to her by the deceased grandfather who has brought her up, of the money inherited from rich parents she had hardly ever known (and neither had anyone in town which was in fact the real issue at stake) - such a girl had to be dumb. Or crazy. Or both at once.
