Chapter 4 - Stream Of Memories
It is during every Sundays when Junsu likes to sleep in without being disturbed and everyone at home knew that. Junsu won’t even budge from his sleep even if there is something important and his parents has given up a long time ago to wake him up during Sundays. But today was different. Mrs. Kim was surprised when she saw Junsu awake so early in the morning practicing on a song on the piano.
“Junsu honey” His mother spoke while she entered the room. “Are you sick, honey?” she asked worriedly.
Junsu stopped playing and turned around, “no mom. Other than my broken leg, everything is fine. Why?” he asked.
Mrs. Kim walked towards Junsu and took a seat beside him, looking at him carefully.
“Nothing. It’s just that I’m not used to seeing you playing the piano.” Mrs. Kim moved her finger to press some random notes then smiled at her son. “I thought you don’t like to play the piano anymore. That’s just my impression though.”
“How come?”
“Honey, are you seriously asking me that?” she asked, with raised eyebrows.
She chuckled when Junsu nodded his head cutely. “You always love soccer. And I was always wondering why you kicked so much when you were in my belly. Remember when I got you a teacher to teach you piano? You were never interested when she taught you. You were very much interested with soccer and you gave your all into that sport.”
“I was only 10 mom. What can you expect from a 10-year-old boy? Getting excited over something black and white like this?” He pointed to the piano keys.
“But honey, soccer ball is black and white.”
“Oh?” Junsu frowned his eyebrows a bit, trying to think of an excuse. “But it’s round. Pianos are not round and I can’t kick it,” he said lamely.
His mom rolled her eyes. “Oh, yeah honey. Whatever.”
His mom stood up from the seat, patted on Junsu’s shoulders before moving to sit by the coffee table. She picked up a subscribed music magazine that anyone hardly read and started reading.
Junsu just shrugged on his shoulders. He shifted his attention back to the piano and continued on practicing.
While Junsu played, his mom silently watched him with interest. She bit her lower lip and tilted her head when a thought came to her.
“Junsu honey?”
“Yes mom?” Junsu answered without leaving his eyes from the book.
Mrs. Kim hesitated before she spoke. “Did something happen while your dad and I were away?” she asked.
“Just a broken leg,” he replied swiftly.
“Really? Did you fall in love with someone? You can always share it with me,” she said.
Junsu dropped his hand, causing a noisy sound from the piano from being surprised.
“Why are you so surprised?” she asked with raised eyebrows. “I’m your mother and you could always tell me anything. I know I may not be at home most of the time but at least let me make up for it.”
“Mom, why are you making assumptions? Who said that I’m falling in love?” he rolled his eyes in disbelief.
“But why are you playing the piano again? You are not one to play willingly unless there is something else,” she said, folding her arms.
“Because I can’t play soccer.” Junsu reasoned.
“Oh yeah? Is that the only reason why?” his mother smirked. Junsu’s eyes widened. Seeing his mother smirking is definitely not a good sign. “I guess I should go and call Kibum now.”
“No! Mom!” Junsu cried, trying to stop his mom from leaving the room but failed. He could hear her cheerful laughter along the hallway. “Damn. Kibum could never lie to my mom.” He pulled his hair with both of his hands, “I’m so going to die.”
* * * * *
Junsu sat down on the dinner table. His body was as stiff as a rock, waiting his mom to go wild and cry about his son for being gay or something dramatic. But nothing came out from his mother. The only thing that came out from her is a comment on how they should eat together more often. ‘Then you should be at home more often then, not walking around on another side of this country,’ he protested on his head.
“Junsu honey?”
‘Here we go.’ Junsu inwardly groaned.
“I already talked to Kibum,” his mother smirked at him.
“So?” He tried to act as if he doesn’t care even though his heart was beating so fast.
“Do you mind if you introduce him to us?” she said.
“Him?” his father asked with confusion. “You got a new friend?” he asked Junsu, but before Junsu could answer, his mom decided to answer it for him.
“No yeobo, our son is in love with his piano teacher. Aww” Ms. Kim squealed like a teenager.
“Are you high on sugar or something? I already told you that you’re not suppose to eat ice cream in the morning. It makes you high,” his father scolded his mother.
“No, silly.” She playfully slapped Mr. Kim hand. “I ate pancake this morning, with a caramel syrup on it.”
“No wonder why you are high,” his father rolled his eyes and shook his head.
Junsu’s parents stopped talking when Junsu interrupted them by clearing his throat. “I’m sorry, but I thought we’re talking about me. Not about mom’s sugar rush.”
“I’m not high.” Ms. Kim said, trying to defend herself.
“Anyway, Junsu,” his father spoke, “I know it’s time where everybody started to fall in love with each other. And now that you already like someone, I only wonder whether you want to get.. ehm.. *cough*sexual*cough* education from us or not?”
“Dad!” He could feel his face reddening from embarrassment. “I don’t think that’s the main problem now.”
“Then what?” his father asked with confusion.
“Holy God!” Junsu grabbed his hair with both of his hand, showing how frustrated he is with his parents. “I’m fu- no, I mean, I’m falling in love with a male. Male without ‘f’ and ‘e’ in front of it. That’s the problem.”
“Do you think it’s a problem to you?”
“Huh? Oh… well… no..”
“There you go. We want you to be happy. If you are happy with it, then there’s no reason for us to ask about your sexual orientation. Man or woman, we’re just the same. No boundaries to love, and you are free to love anybody. Right, yeobo?” Mrs. Kim asked her husband excitedly.
“Exactly.”
* * * * *
Junsu was unusually cheerful when he waited for Yoochun to arrive for their lessons. Contrast with the stormy weather outside of his house, he played the piano randomly, until a familiar husky voice spoke.
“What are you trying to play?” It was Yoochun. His hair was a little bit wet from the rain outside.
“Songsaengnim, you startled me.”
Usually, Yoochun would go and sit beside him to show him the right way to play piano whenever Junsu played randomly. But Yoochun seemed a bit off after Junsu spoke. He only walked slowly to stand beside Junsu. Eyeing Junsu’s mouth carefully.
Junsu felt lucky that the room was a little bit dark because of the bad weather so Yoochun couldn’t see the crimson blush on his face.
“I’m sorry.” Yoochun said with a sad smile on his face “I don’t know what are you trying to say. It’s… a little bit too dark so...”
Realization hit Junsu. “I’m sorry,” he apologized and hopped as fast as he could with his good leg to turn on the light of the room “There. Better?”
Yoochun showed his usual smile before sitting on his usual seat. Waiting patiently for Junsu to come and sit with him.
“Did you practice what I taught you last time?”
“I did.”
“Great. Play it.”
“Roger.”
Yoochun stared at the beauty in front of his eyes. It’s not the first time he taught someone but it is the first time he interacted so much with his student. When he taught at school, all he did was show them some examples, made them take a look on the music book, and writing on the whiteboard. So more or less, this was the first time for him to actually have a conversation like a normal people would do. He does not even communicate much with Jaejoong and Changmin.
He knew that it’s weird especially he would never waste his energy to ask his brother about how Junsu’s laughter sounds like. Yoochun knew that his old normal self would never stare at his student but pay more attention to his student’s playing skills.
Yoochun was deep in thoughts when the lights suddenly went out. It was dark and the rain was getting heavier and stronger.
Yoochun felt his chest tightening as he started to panic. The memories of his terrible accident started flashing back in his head. The darkness was not helping him since he is deaf and he can only rely with his sights. Since seeing is important to him, he hated darkness.
“Yoochun songsaengnim?” Junsu spoke when he realized that his teacher was trembling he could hear his teacher’s heavy breathing. He started to worry when Yoochun didn’t reply. “Shit” he muttered slowly after realizing his stupidity. ‘He can’t hear me.’
Junsu tried to give his teacher comfort by rubbing the back of his teacher in a soothing circle.
‘Phone. The light from cell phone would help.’ He looked for his cell phone in his pocket but couldn’t find it and then realized that he left it in his room. ‘Great.’ He inwardly cursed.
“Uhmm… Songsaengnim?”
Yoochun was still lost in his own thoughts. When he felt a pair of hands circling his body. He turned his head and realized that Junsu was hugging him. He hugged him back when he felt another streak of memories flashing back into his mind.
“Sorry.” He said while hiding his fear “I …Darkness is… is not one of my favorite things. I… I felt… this is the only time when I realized that I was indeed different with another people.” Yoochun didn’t have any idea why he told Junsu but he knew that talking might help cease his fear.
He felt slightly disappointed when Junsu pulled him off. But he lost it when Junsu suddenly grabbed his hand, moving his finger around his palm. “Junsu, it’s not the right time to sedu…cing.. me…” He lifted his head to face Junsu. Yoochun realized that Junsu was not trying to seduce but was writing on his palm instead.
[Don’t worry. We can still talk in another way]
Junsu brought Yoochun’s hand to his again, writing another sentence on Yoochun’s palm.
[It’s okay. I’m here]
Yoochun could see a little smile on Junsu face when the lightning struck. And nothing could picture how glorious he seemed with that big angelic smile on his face.
Yoochun suddenly pulled Junsu into another hug. Breathing and inhaling the scent of Junsu’s shampoo, putting his hand around Junsu’s waist, and just started to cry.
He can’t remember when was the last time he cried like this. He never cried, at least not at front of someone. Not even Jaejoong and Changmin. So why did he cry in the arms of Kim Junsu? This boy that kept on rubbing his back to comfort and hug him just as tight as he did.
Dark is just nothing, when this angelic creature is holding him tight in his embrace.
He pulled himself off Junsu, eyeing the younger face. Moving himself closer and closer to Junsu’s face.
And everything moved so fast when he realized that he kissed Junsu. His lips were planted on the other warm and plump lips, feeling the softness and sweetness of the other lips.
The light came back when he finally pulled his lips from Junsu’s.
“Songsaengnim? Wh-what is that?” was the only thing that came from Junsu’s mouth.

A/N
Back to my usual slow update. Just throw something to me. hahaha.
The end is making you curious right? Right? Right? I looks like a desperate girl now. hahaha.
In a couple chapter before, I wrote that I would go into hiatus in august because I don't have a fix internet connection, well, looks like the internet problem is solved. My father decided to buy me flash drive modem. yayy!! *throw confetti*
Bad news is, now the reason for my hiatus is changed. I broke my laptop LCD. Aww, screw me and that LCD! I'm not even doing anything and it broke. Great. I saved everything on my laptop, song, video, picture, even my fanfics draft, and because of the LCD, I can't access it. *sniff*
Internet connection with no laptop... I could cry.
Oh well, enough with me and my useless rants. I hope you enjoy this chapter :)
