I've now seen Guardians of the Galaxy. I enjoyed it, but it had some of the same problems as Avengers, with having to stuff so much into one movie. A lot of the elements didn't really have the time to accumulate the emotional weight to be really satisfying. Like, Gamora and Nebula's relationship could have been something with the weight of Thor and Loki (but on technicolor space estrogen), but it kind of got lost in the shuffle, emotionally speaking. I've heard the girls get more attention in the tie-in comic, so I may look that up.
I think Rocket and Groot had my favorite dynamic. I really like Groot's character design - they managed to make him very expressive and sympathetic even with his limited vocabulary and nonhumanoid features.
