Valerian and Lilja discussing stage names and genealogy, among other things. The bit about "some kind of Mexican drink" came about when I discovered that Google thinks that Teuila might be a misspelling of Tequila. I still don't know whether it's potentially racist to accuse your close friends of being descended from fantasy creatures.
Lilja: So... is Valerian Nightshade your real name?
Val: Er... yes and no.
Lilja: How would that work? I thought that was a simple question.
Val: Well, you see, uh, Valerian's my real first name, but Nightshade's not my original last name, it's my original middle name. I, uh, think my mom might have been kind of a Goth.
Lilja: So what is your last name? Something horribly embarrassing?
Val: No! It's just that, you know, "Nightshade" is a little more dramatic than "Teuila," and this way I don't constantly get semi-literate mainlanders thinking that I'm named after some kind of, uh, Mexican drink. Honestly! Samoan is not that hard to pronounce! This isn't like, I don't know, Welsh or something.
Lilja: You are Samoan?
Val: Half Samoan, actually.
Lilja: What is your other half? Orc?
Val: Hey, if I'm a half-orc, you are totally a blood elf.
Lilja: Those are the pretty blond ones with the glowing eyes, right?
Val: Yeah. But hey! Orcs and blood elves are both Horde, so we're still on the same side!
Lilja: That is fortunate. I do not wish to break up the band because of political differences.
