What is all this about the 'Planet' and the 'Temple of the Ancients'?

The Planet is pretty much the world Zack, Tifa, Yuffie, Sephiroth, Shin-Ra, and I are from. Within it is the Lifestream. The Temple of the Ancients is... well, collapsed due to some... rather unfortunate events? It's a big hole in the ground, now.
