FINE. How do we move without losing our community?

So, strikethroughs again.

Assuming the link I was given to Pond's art is accurate (the piece with the holding hands underneath? Is that right?), that there is only underage smut if you assume (DH spoiler ahoy) *that because Snape dies before Harry turns 18 and obviously there is no such thing as AU, he's definitely underage.* I would have ( Read more... )

(nod) i've been trying to figure out a logical rss answer to this, but the lack of the security within that is what makes me go "ahhapsgjkalsbm,l!"

comma and everything.

florahart, thank you for putting this up. i haven't answered the poll because i'm mostly a andom voyeur, but i really appreciate your wisdom around all of this sometimes. ♥

I'm not a big name in fandom or anything, but I set up an InsaneJournal account a while back and just perm-accounted it tonight even though I'm broke.

(I've actually been actively resisting HP fandom for a while now; I like fandoms with closed canon.... and well, looks like I have bad timing!)

I'm not a huge fandom person, but most of my flist are. Fortunately I belong to enough forums with Ali or Eey or Kat or km or VL or etc *waves at any forum peoples who may read this* that I could scream for help and someone would direct me, but for people who don't, a sudden disappearance could be highly disorienting.

It sounds like you are wanting an HP_fandom_redirect community on LJ that sends people over to GJ or IJ or where-ever or an LJ_HP_fandom_redirect community on GJ or IJ that pretty much consists of links to various GJ/IJ/whatever communities and journals that match up to current LJ ones.

I doubt that any of those other journal communities would continue to turn a blind eye to under age porn. No matter where fandom goes, there will always have to be an awareness that this stuff is highly illegal and there will always be a reaction from those who are legally vulnerable.

I'd say that those who do post underage pornographic material need to show a little more common sense - hide interests, lock the art, etc, or put it on websites that don't chase down those who break the law and put less traceable links up, (hxxp links or anonamizers), but I'm very concerned that apparently at least one of these journals had locked the post already. This makes it appear that someone on their own friends list turned them in for illegal behaviour, so that is going to make things a lot more difficult. That's just supposition on my part, though ( ... )

Just so you guys know, the journals that were recently deleted weren't even underage stuff. It was just plain porn. Art, and you COULD argue Harry MIGHT look a bit underage in one of them, if I understand, but...no, they seem to be going after pornographic stuff in general. At least as far as I can tell.

Oy, gevalt.

Something which I still haven't got an answer for -- how about NC-17 fic which contains underage characters who are not part of the action (i.e offspring?)

I rarely write in HP, but this would be an issue in at least two of the fandoms I write in.

Think I'll be backing up my fic at IJ and possibly GJ.
