As I said over at Femme's, I find this most alarming. I have "gay marriage" listed as an interest -- it's illegal in my state. From what Abuse has been saying, I could, potentially, have my LJ suspended/deleted without warning for my support for equal marriage rights for all.

Yes, and yes, and yes. I am so angry about this situation, I don't think I can even be coherent about it. But you've pretty much encapsulated the essential wrongness. And there is, in fact, SO MUCH WRONG.
I'm going to be avoiding this with the longest pole I can find, but I would like to point out, just for the record, that the head of the Abuse Team is a slash author herself.
However, even she has to bow to higher-ups who may have their heads up their asses.
I meant to be saying, that it's not reasonable that the abuse team should be expected (by their higher-ups) to be handling this in this manner. I'll edit to be more clear.
