1) Are there differences you've noticed between francophone fandom and anglophone fandom?
Hmmm, lots of differences are linked to French fandom being far smaller. Like, when you meet someone whose language is French, you're always "hey! same language!" even if you have no fandom in common.
And of course, if there's less, there's also less of the Best.
I'd say we have less antis, but it's hard to say whether it's because we're smaller in general or there are proportionally less.
Sometimes I commented that English fandom gives more Kudos and French one more comments, but it's barely noticeable and can be linked to me personally knowing more French-speaking people.
So I'd say the main difference is just that sometimes we don't get into the same fandom. A fandom that's huge in English will be non-existant in French, while one the same size in English will have an honorable following in French. Some French language fandoms have a devoted following in French fics, some are neglected and finally get more action in English.
Sometimes also a manga is translated in French but not in English so there's absolutely no English fandom.
2) What appeals to you about reading and/or writing horror?
I think, it's not directly linked to what makes the essence of horror. It's almost tangential, as so many horror stories get tropes I love. I love supernatural mysteries, I love monsters (but the ones in fantasy too) and I love ghosts, I love tragedy (which is not always here in horror, but often, and not only in horror anyway), I love corruption arcs. For writing, I love whump in addition to all these. ^^
3) If you had one year to do anything you wanted, all expenses paid (but you couldn't keep anything afterwards, except memories and pictures--this is about experiences rather than buying stuff) what would you do?
First I'd travel the world to visit my friends who live in different countries.
I should probably go to more plays and concerts. I can't drive, so it's not often accessible, but if the taxi is paid, yay me.
Maybe I'd like to go to places where the nature is cool. The birds, the plants, the scenery.
At one point I'd just be tired and enjoy being home and write without having to go to work too. ^^
4) Favorite piece of clothing you've ever owned?
When I was in middle school, I had a purple velvet dress with embroidery, formerly belonging to my grandmother. I adored it (even if it made me look weird, but at least it was pretty weird). I cried where it had a non-repairable tear.
5) You can meet one famous living person for one hour to chat over coffee/tea/a drink. The person in question is delighted to do this and won't be awkward. Who do you choose?
It's hard. But you know, Jonny Sims sounds very cool.
