Day 2 of female-centered stories with canon wlws!
Lumberjanes by Noelle Stevenson, Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis and some others.
Length: Sixteen volumes of comics, finished.
Happy ending or not? You know? I haven't finished it yet (it ended in last December). But given the overall atmosphere, yes!
Who is the wlw?
Them. They're very fluffy. Their romance doesn't really play a role in the plot, it's just here and cute.
Is there other representation? Jo is trans and Navajo, Mal is Korean-American, Ripley is very mixed.
Warnings? I don't see any. Animals being killed I guess, but not that often, and not pets. Oh, sometimes adults that are well meaning but not exactly supportive.
What about the plot? Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley spend the summer at the same cabin at the Lumberjanes camp (like girl scouts). But they discover weird supernatural events and they will have to use all their skills to understand them and find a resolution.
This is the plot of the first two volumes. And then it happens again. There are so many supernatural occurrences here.
How good it is? It took some time to me to appreciate the characters. They're all skilled and brave and good friends, and at the beginning, I was thinking their individual personalities were not so distinctive. I kept going because of the impressive worldbuilding. It's so wild, but never meaningless, happy, but with a sense of stakes, mixing traditional legends with personal imagination effortlessly.
And finally, the writing of the personalities, while still subtle, gets more distinctive once you really know them.
