Well, the sun came out this afternoon after 2 days of Fay feeder bands. The rain is good because the water table has been a little short the past couple of years. The weather pundits are saying Fay could loop around and rain on Florida again. As long as it is just rain and no damage or danger, I can live with that.
And the schools will finally open tomorrow after a 2-day storm delay. It will be Baby's first day in middle school. She received a late acceptance into a magnet program so she has had 2 weeks to do the summer reading and projects. I am going to have to help her with creative corner-cutting and the 80-20 rule if she is going to survive this program. We went to the open house on Saturday but her schedule wasn't ready yet (again - late acceptance/registration).
I have finished my first college class as a reborn student. Now I need to get working on my portfolios so I can get "life experience" credit for a couple of classes I would prefer to avoid. I don't remember the exact names of the courses but one involves what types of careers are available in my chosen field of study and the other is a PSYCH class to help me decide what I want to be when I grow up. As I have told my adviser, that ship has sailed...gone around the world a few times and collected a bunch of baggage. I was also able to test out of an introduction to computers class ("This is a mouse. A mouse is an input device.") I start my 2nd class in October - Introduction to Internet Resources.
Even though the schools and government offices were closed this week most private businesses had regular work hours in spite of the nasty weather. People that came in for their scheduled job interviews will get an extra point for effort. My major upgrade has cleared one hurdle (training program was pushed out to all the users) but is still stalled because we are having trouble activating the Web portion in our test upgrade. I really wanted to have this done in July. :: sigh:: This puts me behind on the other major initiative I have for this year.
Until next time...
