Twenty hour crash days, accompanied by really ferocious muscle spasms and horrible lymph nodes. Not sure what's going on to annoy my body right now, but is it ever annoyed.
We've been babysitting my mother's dust mop, I mean, terrier, and because of my addled state it took me a full day to figure out that when she started growling to wake me up it was because she wanted up on the bed! She can't get up on her own (thankfully; our bed is a no-dog zone by fiat of Brad, who is not a big softie like me) so I kept staggering up and taking her out, thinking she wanted some great outdoors. I still feel guilty about not letting her on the bed, but in all honesty she's coping just fine... except when Jack decided to switch beds and tripped over her and then there was Dog Ruckus skitter snarl skitter. By the time I got the light on they were at opposite ends of the room looking innocent: 'ruckus, what ruckus?' Pretty sure the snarl came from her, and no yipings, so all was well. Pretty sure she won despite being 1/3rd his size.
They're handling mealtimes quite well this time around; she's always been a slow browser, and neither of them should eat the other's food, but I figured out that if I put a little yogurt at the bottom of her bowl she'd eat it quickly in order to get at the yogurt. Good dog! Much easier than the prior solution of locking her and dinner bowl in the bedroom with me for long enough for her to nibble nibble peck at it.
Other than that, things have been quiet. And bizarrely enough, having Phoebe here makes me want to foster a dog... not until after Thanksgiving at the very earliest, but much like how Moose perked up when we got Jack, Phoebe keeps Jack on his toes and I think that's good for him. A female dog if possible, since Jack seems more mannerly with girls (despite occasionally stepping on Phoebe.) And dogs are exponential so I'll certainly have to be feeling better! But it's something to look forward to.
