Review of Deep State by Walter Jon Williams

My, this one took me a long time to read... I haven't been reading very much lately as I've been either a) busy or b) inevitably sleepy after the busy. I think I might have gotten farther then lost state, as well, since I've been so foggy. It survived well even with the brain fog and interruptions so it must be clearly written.

Actually, for what it's worth I read Deep State without having read This Is Not A Game and it worked okay for me. I was able to pick up enough of what had gone before from context and hints for it to read fine.

The technical details of the High Zap 'fix' did bug me, though :)

Oh! Perhaps I was underestimating the context; I thought the PTSD might not have had the same weight without it. Have you read This Is Not A Game since then? If so, what did you think?

I was not fond of the High Zap, yes, and especially not the fix. Though it was refreshing to have a doomsday weapon that wasn't explodey, and the retro solutions made me giggle.
