She Burned WHAT?!?

You know, after watching Rosemary's Baby a week or so ago, I got to noticing some stuff. Everyone has probably already noticed it since I like to walk around oblivious a lot. I apologize if it's old news to you. Anyway, the husband in it is one of those types of guys that would say, "Now baby, we aren't going to have any of that." You know, the kind where it was important that she be under his thumb, That was made in 1968. And this isn't really all that rare in movies during that time -- a lot of bravado.

Then, I recently watched a rerun of I Dream Of Genie, and it reminded me of Bewitched. Both of those seem to be about women who are constantly slipping in just being what they are which goes against what their what their husbands want them to be. The husbands were pretty futile in their efforts too and were practically full throttle cranky all the time over it.

Were the guys writing this stuff during that time terrified of bra burning or what?
