This has been a rollercoaster of a week, thus the lack of updates. Here it is in brief. I lost $500 in work clothes to a bleach accident, lost 320GB of backed up memory to a freak accident, found a new hairdresser that does an amazing job and is willing to trim my beard, and booked an impromptu flight to Singapore in November to watch JAM Project with my sister. The impromptu portion has its own mishaps, though, and is still giving me a headache.
SATs happened. My kids are all on a frazzle, but I think I've trained some of my more scatterbrained kids well enough for them to crest 700 and 750 in everything. That's a job well done, and almost makes the $1000+ of damages and pain worth it.
Lots of personal problems going about. My one day off (I had an almost day off on Saturday too!) was interesting. Friends fighting and people turning cagey. Definitely something in the water. All I did was watch the end episodes to a bunch of shows and cried my guts out in catharsis. First time in two months that I've had time to stop wearing my teacher mask. It felt good to just let the deluge go without actually being sad. Was just so tired.
Final news: I got what must have been the last copy of Etrian Odyssey 3 in Manila. Five stores, over a dozen phone calls, and at last a reserved copy. (The last in store; some guy tried to buy the game not five minutes after I called to 'chope' it.) They'd only hold it for me for a certain amount of time, so I had to quickly get a substitute for my last student to run out and grab it. Yes, I got away with that. Somehow.
I also scavenged a TV from the corridor and am now playing Castlevania on it. So far so good.
That was my (two) week(s) in brief. I have an entry I want to make about the evolution of my Etrian guild (ie more boring stuff), so I'll work on that next.
