Drama Assignment
In drama class at school we have to write and perform our own monologues. It's worth 15% of our final mark so I would love everyone's opinion on mine. I'll post it under a cut.
I’ve done a lot of stupid things in my life. I grew up in New York City to a wealthy family. I even got called spoiled by some people. I drank and partied a lot. Got sent to boarding school at age 15, got kicked out a year later. My parents sent me to live with my aunt and uncle in the suburbs. I was surprised my aunt took me in. I mean she already had her own children to raise. But I’m grateful she let me move in. I was able to clean up my image, I got a job, I found an amazing boyfriend, I got into a great college, I had a great relationship with my aunt and uncle, and my aunt even had another child of her own. I was happy for a while.
It all changed the night of my prom. I had a few drinks and ran into an ex-boyfriend, Steven. Steven invited me to a hotel room and I followed him. And… (Takes deep breath) I can’t really talk about that. After that, I tried really hard not to, but I started drinking and partying again. Summer came, one night I was home alone and I was drinking. Steven showed up. I tried telling him to leave but he (Deep breath) attacked me. The attack just made everything worse. I hit rock bottom. My drinking became out of control at that point. Now here I am at age 18, two weeks before I start college, in rehab.
