Sorry So Long! It's Been TOO Long!

So I realize I never update, but I feel as though this point in my life deserves a shout out.

A few weeks before graduation, I received a phone call from AARC Environmental, a company I had an interview with after talking to them at a career fair in February.  The were calling me back for a second interview, this one with the Director of Operations in Houston.  They offered to fly me down, all expenses paid.  On Saturday, May 3rd, I graduated from MSU, my entire family came down for my graduation, and I had a wonderful weekend.  The following Thursday, I flew down to Houston for a series of interviews on Thurs-Fri.  Friday evening I was offered a position as a Contract Manager.  The following Tuesday, I accepted their offer (I had no other options, but this was my top choice to begin with.)

Two days later, my mom arrived in East Lansing to help me move out of my apartment.  I spent the following week preparing for my move down to Houston... hair appointment, eye appointment, dentist appointment, pedicure, chatting with an apartment locator... Memorial Day Weekend I went camping with Melissa, Jenny, and Katie fuckin' Collick.  Awesome times!  Did some final trip planning, got signed up for AAA, and went fishing with Dad.

On May 30th, I made my departure... Impala packed full with clothing, TV, keyboard, and a whole lot of other junk... After 2.5 days on the road, I arrived in Houston, TX on June 1st.  My mom arrived a few hours after me.  After some apartment shopping, a quick episode of food poisoning (after eating a few of the tomatoes you heard about...), and some furniture shopping, I moved into my apartment on Friday, June 6th.

My mom took off on Sunday, the day before work.  Thats the most of it, I suppose.  Now I'm a full-time career girl.  I'm still not used to it, but Houston is gorgeous.  I can't complain about 90 degree weather for the past 3 weeks.  Supposedly it's supposed to get hotter, but the Texans are complaining about the heat now, and I have no complaints!  Who cares if it's 100 degrees out for a month or two... it's much better than having snow 8-9 months out of the year!

The job is good.  I'm finally getting in the groove.  Every Friday night 5-10 of us go out to the bar next door.  Last Friday, after 'Happy Hour,' a few MSU grads and I went out to another bar.  I hit on a 40+ year old caveman who played bass/keyboards for a local band, and gave him my  number (after he gave me his).  On Saturday, I went out to lunch with one of the MSU grads and a Sr. Environmental Scientist/Engineeer.  I was supposed to go to a pool party on Saturday, but 1) I was incredibly hungover, and 2) my coworker Nicole mistook my phone number for work... believe me, it's possible...

This past week was my second week of work.  I'm finally starting to become comfortable, and I have a few projects to work on... AKA my desk is finally messy... tomorrow is Friday, though.  We'll be going out again tomorrow night, and then possibly another pool party on Saturday.

P.S. Joanna, an employee of 11 years, just turned 28.  In honor of her birthday, my boss (Kenny) planned to take her out.  This weekend he's at a conference, so apparently the 'outing' will occur the following weekend.  A limo to take anyone interested down town, and home at the end of the night...  (just so you know, that's my birthday weekend!)

In other news, it looks like a trip to Galveston (the coast), Yoga/Pilates lessons, and a Spanish class are not too far away...
