Paris sewing supplies

K & I made an outing to find La Droguerie to look at the yarn. Wow! They don't allow photos inside, so I'll have to describe.

When you first walk in, there are long hanks of yarn hanging on hooks. All sorts of natural fibers (K bought bamboo yarn) with knitted samples so you can see how it makes-up. You show the clerk your selection, tell her how many kg you want (that's right - you buy it by weight), and they wind it into a nice ball!

Further back, the wall is lined with rolls of trims, card-catalog banks full of amazing buttons and jewelry findings, and around the corner a wall of shelves is crammed with jars of beads. Keep going and you get to a section of ribbons, and finally - silk flowers. Beautiful silk flowers. It was extremely tempting to pick a bouquet, but I don't need them for a hat project right now so I resisted.

Can't wait to go back when I am ready for a knitting, jewelry or millinery project!

Oh, and on the way we happened to see the restaurant supply store Ina Garten recommends in "Barefoot in Paris", so of course we had to go in and buy creme brulée dishes! :)
