things never go as planned

My midnight fabric purchase came yesterday. I'm glad I went to the fabric district - that would have been cutting it tooooo close! Plus I'm really happy with the jacquard floaty silk I'm using and the fabrics in the mail were just so plain. Fortunately, though, it included the perfect color of pale blue silk organza that I am using to line my bodice, because the silk is just too delicate on its own. Turned out it is too delicate for machine sewing too. I suppose if it were a modern garment, it would be fine, but the double threads of machine sewing made stiff seams, and the feed-dogs left marks. So, ya, I'm hand sewing the whole thing. Instantly throwing me off the speeding train of my schedule. Aherm. :P

And today my cute pink shoes came! I lervs them! They're a tad roomy, but with silk stockings, they will be perfect. The leather flowers definitely gotta go though. I'll have to just stick on ribbon bows for now and be clever later.

And then my 17 year old daughter's boyfriend broke up with her today. And aaaaaall my evening productivity went out the proverbial window. I have 24 hours left. And since my surgery, my ability to push fatigue limits has been a fraction of what it used to be. I'm going to work until midnight tonight, get up early tomorrow, pray for a productive day, and then pack and prepare tomorrow night (I think I want to curl my hair too). Saturday's train is suuuper early. I have a cream colored wool/cashmere cloak cut out that I am hoping to sew on the train.

And, as if I don't have enough on my mind already, my husband (who was supposed to be home this week to visit his mom who is here visiting) is still in Montreal and called to tell me that he needs to stay another week. And that they want him there permanently. Um...
