thimble work

Apr 11, 2011 23:50

Today I figured out how to comfortably use my smallest leather thimble on my under-side finger when hand sewing, without sacrificing my small stitch size. I feel like it was partly an "ah-ha!" moment and partly "duh". But anyway, it means my sewing time will no longer be limited by the hamburger at the ends of my finger tips! I don't know why things take me so long, but the hem on my new Empire gown took about 8 hours of hand sewing. It turned out very pretty! And later I will embroider it. It's too dark to take a photo tonight, but here's the proto-type I made for the hem, and the mock-up of the bodice.
