why i hate driving ...

so nothing in this post will be capitalized.  because it's too damn hard.  and please ignore all typos.

i was driving to pick justin up from work on wednesday night, minding my own business, going south on eastern just past patrick, right past the new wal mart.  i was just driving along, when out of nohere, i see this bmw suv headed righjt for me.  the stupid woman changed lanes right into me. you know how some people change lanes rather slowly and gradually?  well imagine the complete opposite.  she just cranked her wheel and plowed intpo my driver's side front door.  she never tried to stop, she never steared away, she never did anything to try to avoid the acident, or to minimalize impact.  she just kept right on with her lane change.  she ended up about a car and a half in front of me, when she finally did stop.

i tried to slam on the brakes, and steer to the right, but it didn't work, she was just coming too fast.  as i was trying to avoid the accident, i hit my left elbow on the door, exactly as she hit the door.  unfortunately, my left elbow is now broken, which is why i'm typing like crap.  luckilly, my car sustained minimal damage.  her stupid suv took it all.  she has the imprint of my side mirror running pretty much the length of her car. she wasn't hurt.  of course not.  just lucky me and my broken arm.

i didn't feel any pain though for about 5 minutes.  i was in too much shock.  i got out of the car, and went up to the lady, and asked her, well more like demanded her liscence and insurance.  she said something like no, where did you come from anyway?  i was here and where did you come from?  i really couldn't understand her eastern european accent.  so i got a picture of her plates, because i thought she would just get back in her car and drive off.  then i called the police, and justin, and my mom.  and then i started to feel sick.  it just hit me all at once.  my arm, my back, and my neck were killikg me, and i thought i was going to throw up.

justin arrived first, he got a ride from someone.  he was of course freaking out, because i was hurt, and because i have health issues already.  then the police came.  i will actually admitt, the officer was very caring, polite, patient, and generally not what i have encountered with metro.  so metro gets a gold star.  seriously.  he was great.  i just handed him a fistfull of papers from the center compartment, and he sorted through them.  he then called the ambulance, because i was feeling worse by the minute.

i was taken by ambulance to desert springs hospital, which i did nt request or ask for, they just took me.  and i went alone, my mom wasn't at the scene yet, and they just totally blew justin off.  NEVER GO TO DESERT SPRINGS HOSPITAL.  i had to sit in the waiting room for 3 hours.  not in a bed on pain killers awaiting the doctor.  no.  in the waiting room, with a neck brace on.  why did i bother with the ambulance? i don't know.  i am so upset with that frickin place ... ugh.  justin, my mom, and jerry met me in the waiting room.  and waited.  and waited some more.  i was difficult, i know, because i was pissed, and sore.  i’m so sorry for them.

so after my very painful waiting room ordeal, i was taken to the back.  not to a bed, but to a semi-medical reclining chair with a number on it.  and a normal chair next to it for my mom.  there were 2 rows of this set up.  no privacy, no seperation, no reason to wait 3 hours to get to.  and i never actually saw a doctor.  just a physician’s assistant (pa for short) and a student.  after another rather long wait, the student  came over first and asked what happened, was i wearing my seatbelt ( of course), how fast was i going (35), did my airbag deploy (no).  then i had to go do a pee test for pregnancy,  duh, i’m not pregnant.

so, then i got to walk over to the “room,” which was just a bed over in a semi-secluded corner, for examinatoin.  then i had to go back to my chair.  trhey gave me some meds, and then the raiologist came.  he wheeled my chair to the x-ray room, where they took like 20 x-rays, which took a whuile because some of their stuff was broken.  yay,  the tech was apologetic, and i wasn’t mad at him, partially because i was all drugged up.  then back to the other room to wait until they read the x-rays.

i don’t really know what time it was at this point.  i still had to wear that damn neck brace.  and then i just got to wait.  and wait.  yay.  it was 3:15 am when the pa finally came back with the redings on the x-rays.  my elbow is broken.  something about a tendon being attatched, and it not being a fracture, more like a chip off of the elbow.  i don’t entirely remember.  wait more and they’ll come get you in a splint, you’ll need to go see a specialist.  yay.  more waiting.  my alarm on my phone went off at 3:30, time to get up and go to work, and we’re still sitting waiting.

i finally got the splint, my discharge papres, the x-rays, and my prescriptions, and i was trying to leave, and they want a $200 deposit.  what the hell?? oh yes, they’re not a free hospital, i shouldn’t have chosen them.  how was i going to pay that?  i was pissed.  i told her i wasn’t going to pay, i had been taken by ambulance, it was a car accident that i was not at fault for, and the other person’s insurance would pay.  at least she stopped that nonsense.  in case you missed it, NEVER GO TO DESERT SPRINGS HOSPITAL.

so that was wednesday / thursday.  poor justin had to go to work on thursday with literally no sleep.  i haven’t been to work since.  i went to the doctor, and i now have an attorney.  and i have to go in for an mri on monday, because they want a better image of the surrounding tissue. yay.  oh, and i can’t drive, or work, or do basically anything all next week.  fun fun.

this is why i hate driving.
