Hello dear Clamp fandom :D
You might have thought that I had dropped my journal since it has been a long time since my last post, but I will catch up from now on. It is true that I have been quite busy. At least I had time to change the look of my journal and also to find a new super cute avatar created by
xamethyst-rosex. Her edited color pictures are great!
But the true reason for my apparent absence is that I time traveled (once more!) to this moment, when Tsubasa story gets even more interesting :D (I was way too curious to find out more about the story, so I could not wait to time travel to this point!) Therefore, in my viewpoint, only a few minutes have passed since my last post!!!
Thank you very much in advance for all your comments which encourage me greatly and help me to keep posting and finding new ideas :)
*** ALLERGY WARNING : THIS THREAD CONTAINS MANY HUGE SPOILY SPOILERS ***
This is a chronological summary of TRC, i.e. the story as lived by the characters. My personal assumptions are in italics. It is lengthy, but I am usually quite concise, so I think it is worth it!
*** ONCE UPON A TIME ***
In Clow country, princess Sakura lives with her mother, queen Nadeshiko, her father, king Fujitaka, and her brother, prince Touya. Sakura has the power to change the world, the power to protect precious things. Shaoran, a boy born in the same dimension, but maybe not the same country , also has some magical powers of his own. Although we refer to them as Sakura and Shaoran, these are not their true names, but the only ones we know for now.
Shaoran, maybe because he was in danger, was transferred to CCS and xxxHolic dimension when he was very young. There he is adopted. It is strongly suggested to the reader that it is CCS Sakura and CCS Shaoran grown-ups that accept to raise him as their own child. CCS Shaoran trains young TRC Shaoran because he knows this preparation will later be essential for him. When time comes, CCS adoptive parents send back the 7 year old TRC Shaoran to Yuuko because somewhere someone is waiting for him.
*** CHAPTERS 189 to 194 - YOUNG SHAORAN - FROM HOLIC TO CLOW ***
Shaoran arrives to Yuuko's shop in order to reach Clow country. Yuuko has the power to make people cross space-time dimensions in exchange of a price. That price has already been paided by his mother: she has given her magic star wand. Before sending him to another dimension where someone is waiting for him, Yuuko explains that the amount of time TRC Shaoran will be permitted to stay in Clow country this first time is seven days.
Once in Clow Country, TRC Shaoran meets Sakura seven days before her seventh birthday. On Sakura’s birthday, she will complete a ceremony and become an official priest of the ruins candidate. He also meets Sakura's mother, Nadeshiko, and Sakura's father, Fujitaka. He is surprised by the resemblance of Sakura and Nadeshiko with their CCS counterparts. These correspondences once more suggest that CCS Sakura and CCS Shaoran are TRC Shaoran’s adoptive parents. Furthermore, Yuuko had told TRC Shaoran that she knew his parents although never met them and that Shaoran “is very like his father”.
*** CHAPTERS 195 to 196 - YOUNG SHAORAN - FROM CLOW TO HOLIC ***
Fei Wong Reed wants to acquire the power to cross dimensions and he wishes to bring back one who had died. For that wish to be granted, he needs Sakura’s power. Therefore, he appears through a dimensional portal on Sakura’s birthday ceremony. He attempts to abduct Sakura by swallowing her with a black mass, but the water protects her. Shaoran fights back the villain and tries to reach and grab Sakura’s hand, but, remembering that Sakura is in the middle of her purification and must therefore not be touched, he hesitates and can not grab her soon enough to prevent Fei Wong Reed from putting a seal of death on Sakura. When this seal reaches full-size, Sakura will die. Shaoran is then brought back to his own dimension since his time in Clow country is over.
*** CHAPTER 197 : THE DECISION TO GO BACK TO CLOW ***
Back in Yuuko’s shop, Shaoran wishes to go back to Clow country to find a way to remove the seal from Sakura. Yuuko accepts to send him back, but this will be a one-way journey. Furthermore, no one in Clow has the power to cross dimensions. In exchange of his wish, Shaoran gives up his relationship with his parents since he will never be able to see them again.
*** CHAPTERS 198 to 200 - FROM 7 to 14 YEARS ***
Seven years go by, with the seal growing bigger each year. On Sakura’s fourteenth birthday, everyone assembles for Sakura's birthday ceremony. but the seal activates. Nadeshiko halts the flow of time, but only for a few moments. (!) Once time starts up once more, Sakura will be consumed by the seal and die. Shaoran wishes to go back to the seventh day before Sakura’s seventh birthday so that he could grab her hand and prevent Fei Wong from creating the seal.
*** CHAPTERS 201 to 202 - FROM 14 to 7 YEARS - BACK IN TIME ***
As Shaoran is frozen in time but still conscious, Fei Wong appears and tells him that he can grant Shaoran’s wish to travel back in time. Yuuko then also manifests herself to Shaoran thanks to CCS Sakura’s magic star wand. She tells him that turning back time is a grave sin, that it could allow Shaoran to change Sakura’s future, but would change the future of all others involved, particularly the futures of those who knew of the seal upon the princess, i.e. Nadeshiko, Fujitaka, Shaoran ... and maybe Yuuko as well! Shaoran’s freedom will also be taken by Fei Wong. Even so, Shaoran wishes to go back in time.
As his time is rewound by about seven years, another young boy appears which we recognize as Kimihiro Watanuki. Fei Wong explains that in order to fill the time turned back, in order to fill the void left by the relationships that Shaoran has paid Yuuko, this being has been born to take Shaoran’s place and will be the son of his parents. Since he was not originally meant to exist, this distortion will bring pain to the parents who saved Shaoran and also to this child himself. As for Shaoran, he will remain with Fei Wong as his prisoner. And if Shaoran does not surrender to Fei Wong’s will, Fei Wong will create another Shaoran...
*** THE SECOND EVIL PLAN ***
For that wish to be granted, Fei Wong will now need Sakura's body and something buried in the ruins of Clow. To be useful for his wish, Sakura's body first needs to travel across different worlds to create memories and then come back to Fei Wong Reed. Her body engraved with dimensions might act as a compass to help Fei Wong to travel space and time. Her body therefore becomes a “storage of feather memories” or, like the manga title, a “Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle”! For such a risky time-space journey Sakura needs companions. Since Shaoran is especially strong because of his magical abilities, Fei Wong chooses him to accompany Sakura.
*** SHAORAN’S REPLICA ***
Shaoran’s pure heart would never have surrender to Fei Wong’s evil plan. Therefore, he could possibly have hindered Fei Wong Reed's plan. Consequently, Fei Wong imprisons Shaoran and creates a clone who will instead go on a journey with Sakura. This clone first was only an empty shell without a soul. Although the clone has no heart himself, he has the potential to develop one.
Real Shaoran is fortunately able to give a part of his heart to the clone which takes the shape of an eye. Consequently, during his captivity, Real Shaoran can watch everything and experience the events through his clone's blind eye. By giving away one of his eyes, original Shaoran also looses half of his magical powers, from then carried by the clone.
Fei Wong Reed tries to withdraw that eye, but doing so would destroy the clone. Since Fei Wong Reed cannot make another almost perfect replica of Shaoran, and since the clone can still be able to perform his mission even with part of another’s soul, Fei Wong decides to use the clone anyway. Fei Wong Reed also makes sure that the clone will meet Sakura who holds a mysterious power.
*** A LONELY BEGINNING ***
The clone Shaoran will go along with Sakura in the dimension travel instead of the original. But the rewinding of time has created a glitch in the space-time continuum which changed the past. That is why clone Shaoran, being 7, first meets Fujitaka (who is not the king in this new past), then Sakura, and finally Sakura's father, Clow. So Nadeshiko and Fujitaka really are the true-original-initial-intended parents of Sakura.
Young clone Shaoran is found in the street by the kindhearted archeologist Fujitaka. At that time he had no name, no memories of his past, and no sight in his right eye. Fujitaka readily adopts him as a son and names him Shaoran. The two travel across the country for excavation work which leads Shaoran to meet Princess Sakura of Clow Country. Even though Shaoran is blunt and emotionless from his mysterious past, Sakura takes an immediate interest in him. Clone Shaoran become best friends with Sakura.
*** CHAPTER 1 - MEMORIES SCATTERING ***
Fei Wong scatters Sakura’s memories as a motivation for Shaoran to travel into different dimensions to retrieve them, thereby creating several space and time memories in Sakura’s body. The dimension travel completed, Sakura shall come back to Clow country so that Fei Wong can grant his wish.
*** CHAPTER 1 - THE BACK-UP SAKURA ***
Since Sakura is essential for Fei Wong's wish to be granted and since the journey she will eventually undertake is very dangerous, he decides to clone her so that he will have a duplicate in case something happens to her. He clones Sakura differently than what he did for Shaoran. When Sakura is drawn by a special wing engraving in Clow's ruins and is magically temporarily captive, Fei Wong attempts to copy both Sakura's body and soul. Unfortunately, that is too hard to do, and as soon as the replica is created, the body of the original Sakura disintegrates, leaving only the original soul imprisoned in a tube. As for the soul of the replica, it is scattered into feathers to different worlds so as to force clone Shaoran to retrieve them to save the princess’s life. This way, he will escort and protect clone Sakura's precious body across different dimensions allowing that body to make memories in all the visited worlds.
*** CHAPTERS 107 to 124 - THE AWAKENING & THE SWAPPING ***
At some point in the quest, the original Shaoran awakens from his spell and finds his clone in Tokyo. The clone ejects his borrowed heart which is retrieved by the original. Clone Shaoran gives back clone Sakura another feather. He then leaves Tokyo to another dimension having no feelings but only the will to retrieve the scattered memory feathers. Thanks to the last feather found, clone Sakura retrieves the memory of being created from an original Sakura. From then on, she does not want real Shaoran to love her since the soul of the real Sakura is waiting for him...
*** CHAPTERS 148 to 150 - THE DREAM ***
Further on in the story, clone Sakura sacrifices herself to save the original Shaoran. Hence, her body is seriously injured allowing her soul to go into the dream world. The real Shaoran also gains access to the dream thanks to the feather that Seishirou had. That feather is the one that previously made the virtual world become real. Somehow, clone Shaoran also makes it into the dream world, maybe because he has no soul, so he is not completely human, thus part of a dream. Or maybe thanks to his increasing powers. Or maybe because he also possesses some feathers.
*** CHAPTERS 173 to 179 - THE ENORMOUS LOSS ***
Clone Shaoran takes back the feather in real Shaoran, which makes Nihon and the dream world merge together and collapse. Clone Sakura's soul is destroyed by both Shaoran fighting each other. Clone Sakura disappears into clone Shaoran's arms telling him she loves him. She also tells him, that since they both are replicas, if both originals continue to live, everything is not over. Clone Shaoran seems to suffer from his heart. Did he develop a heart? Did Sakura's soul become his heart? The body of the clone Sakura is retrieved by Kyle and brought to Fei Wong. Therefore, Fei Wong Reed will have Sakura's cloned body and real soul.
*** BACK TO THE PAST CLOW COUNTRY ***
Shaoran and his companions, Fay and Kurogane, go back to Clow country. They eventually enter inside the ruins where the seven years old Sakura is still frozen in time. Clone Shaoran appears in the ruins underground. Fei Wong Reed also appears but through a portal to observe the scene.
Clone Shaoran and Shaoran have one final fight. Clone Shaoran deceives Fei Wong Reed by pretending to kill Shaoran. Instead, he gives Shaoran his sword enabling him to attack Fei Wong. In his anger, Fei Wong aims to kill Shaoran, but the clone stands in the way, protecting Shaoran from the blade and being himself lethally wounded. Before dying, the clone returns Fay's magic eye, asks Shaoran to return Sakura's feathers to her, as well as apologizes to everyone.
Fay, Kurogane and Shaoran then strike at Fei Wong, only to find it is an illusion created by Kyle, who dies of the wound shortly after. Fei Wong himself then appears in front of the group, holding Clone Sakura's body.
Time begins to move again, and the Seal begins to consume the younger Sakura. Fay and Kurogane tell Shaoran to take her hand, but she is seemingly consumed. Mokona detects a feather, and Fei Wong explains that the distortions have spread to the past, and he describes a world which matches Clow in its description, but it is actually Tokyo. Fei Wong uses Sakura's body and the feather Sakura left in Tokyo, but Kurogane manages to break free and attack Fei Wong, while Fay casts magic that allows Shaoran to go for Sakura. This time, Shaoran takes Sakura's hand and pulls her from the black mass. However, Fei Wong uses magic to pull Sakura from Shaoran's grasp, as the Clone Sakura disintegrates. Fei Wong remarks that Shaoran has severed the last chain preventing him from reviving the dead, and that the person he would revive has suffered the same fate as Sakura.
