I must say, the more and more I watch Transformers Animated the more I like it. Particularly since the show has managed to deliver on the producers promise that that they would measure the actual Decepticon's appearances in order to to give them more impact. Thus far every episode that's had a Decepticon appearance has been awesome.
The ones featuring the super-human villains though, not so much. Admittedly it's not that they are bad episodes per say, so as they've been a bit formulaic and not as dramatic. They're not unbearable to watch by any means, and they do serve to whet the viewers appetite for more Decepticons. Besides the show is technically aimed at kids, so it needs these lighter episodes to balance out the darker Decepticon episodes.
Otherwise it could end up like Beast Wars, which had a very dark second season, and then was executively mandated to lighten up in the third season.
All in all though, it's a bit early to pass full judgment on the series since it's not even halfway through the first season, but so far so good.
