I have moved to San Francisco.  Packed, moved, mostly unpacked.  I'm a little pouty right now, because it is cold, damnit; it is like 55 degrees Fahrenheit in this apartment, and that is way too cold for the likes of me.  I'm wearing a robe and scarf on top of my clothes, and I've cranked up the electric fireplace, which is the only source of ( Read more... )

ENVY

Those are some awesomely arranged books, I am in awe of your organisational skills (mostly because my books are organised in the boxes I moved with, due to lack of space for bookcases).

Congrats on moving/unpacking etc!

:D Thanks! I may have sort of monopolized the communal bookshelf, cuz I didn't bring any of my own, but hey, they weren't really using it anyway. ;)

Glad you're settled! Your bookshelf looks awesome.
(Mine could never be as orderly). I do admire you!

ps: I recognise a couple of tomes.

Thank you muches.

And yeah, there are some recognizable books there - Wicked? The Illustrated Sherlock Holmes? Harry Potter? Or maybe even the gigantic "Literature of Lesbianism" anthology?

Sometimes I wonder if you have a husband or if "Andy" is really a cover for Andrea.

The Potter and the Johnathan Strange and Mr Norrel stood out the most.

I've got to work out a plan for balancing dissertation proposal writing, beta-ing, home improvement, and writing my own fic.
I vote for fic to come before dissertation writing to get those creative juices flowing, don't you?

I'm so glad that you've packed and unpacked in peace. For me, (un)packing is always a traumatic experience.

P.S. I recognize HP7 on your bookshelf (with plush monkeys, no less ♥), automatic win!

Plush monkeys are necessary to happiness, I feel. :)

And actually, I do think that the fic writing is making it easier to do academic writing! It's making my relationship to writing easier and healthier and more flexible; it's making me remember that writing can be fun, which I think I had forgotten for many years. So yah. I will continue to build my writing muscles.

And if you'd like to flex some Xena muscles or have Xena flex her muscles (I remember you mentioned something about the gym?), then that would be fine by me too. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Such pretty pretty shelves! Can you get, like, a wee space heater to carry around the house with you?

0_0 OMG IT'S YOU. *gets over the surprise of seeing YOU here*

And yeah, there's a small heater that we keep in the cave/bedroom, but it's sorta heavy. I figure I'll probably adjust to the climate in another month and a half? But yeah. It'll take me awhile.

I totally exist on the internet!! Anyway, they sell little tiny ones for like $15. We used to have skinny ladies use them in 74F offices all the time when I was working at a $job. Just a thought. :)
