Midyears & The Mix

Jan 25, 2009 23:33

Warning - this is not a typical extra-long Kevin post.

Everyone is officially back at school, as Greg (and Pam and Jess) went back to school this morning. The whole winter break with everyone being home went by slowly in some respects but very quickly in others. I feel like nobody was ever home. It does make me quite sad, but I'll see Jessi and Kristen on Saturday for Semi, and Leslie and Greg in three weeks on my Vassar/Umass trip. Hopefully I won't be too deprived of all our college friends, or, friends. My class basically sucks. I don't even want to get into it, but, school needs to end and at this point I hate student council. If you want details, give me a call, and I'll gladly explain.

Midyear Exams are this week. The only light at the end of the tunnel (sort of) is that these are the last high school exams I will ever have to take, and once they are done G.P.A. and rank are finalized, so although the workload won't lighten up, the pressure will be off. And let's be honest, by this point, senioritis has set in. I also very much enjoy Current Issues and can honestly admit I have learned quite a significant amonut of information in the class, but I will not miss it at all second semester. One semester of Kaplan and his assignments are quite enough. It'll also be nice to have Theatre Workshop period 6 instead of Current Issues. I also liked Advanced Composition, but I can definately say I'll enjoy Sculpture much, much more. It'll be really fun to have an art class, especialy because I've never had one before! So I must just plow through this increidbly difficult week ahead and hopefully do well on my midyears, which is an entire other difficulty itself. I'll spare you the rant.

One other good piece of news is that we found out our host location for Festival! We are once again at Joseph Case High School in Swansea. I find it amusing that Randolph has been at Joseph Case every other year since it rejoined MHSDG in 2003. I have really high hopes for No Problem but we are up against Joseph Case (which more or less automatically moves on), Leominster High (which has moved onto semi's nearly every year and to finals in 2006), and Brockton High (which moved onto semi's the last two years). The other schools I'm not too worried about, and as much optomism as I have I cant help but have this eternal fear we will still not move on to Semi's this year. But time will tell, and if you would like to come see the show it is at Randolph High on Friday, February 6 at 7:00 and Saturday, February 7 at 7:00. There is also a performance after school on Friday, February 5 which cast B (the cast that i'm not in) will be performing. If you can't make it to Randolph, we will be performing it at competition (which will probably be better because we will have had more practice and they have MUCH better special lights at JCHS) on Saturday, February 28 at Joseph Case High in Swansea. I'm hopefully optomistic but realize the odds are against us.

Although life if slightly stressful at the moment, and things have definately been better, I nonetheless have a few things to look forward to in February and the months ahead. And on that note, it is time I end my procrastination and head back to studying for midyears. Good luck to everyone who is starting/already started second semester at school, I'm sure you'll continue to do amazing. Remember I'm only a phone call away.
