Happy Super Bowl Sunday, everyone!!! Today I will be wearing bright green and gold eyeshadow to go with my Packers sweatshirt, which is the only gear I have. :-( Last night I took myself out on a date to the Red Lobster for raspberry margaritas (these are divine!) and managed to hit a lovely pothole on Route 1 and blow out a tire, which meant waiting for an hour and a half in the parking lot of a Rite Aid for someone to come and help me put on the spare. This was such a lovely pothole, that another car was also in the parking lot with the same problem. Long story short, I didn't get home until about 1am, so no grocery shopping was happening, and I have no chili ingredients, and no nachos ingredients, and thus I am going to the local bar to celebrate the game. Hopefully there will be some Packers fans there. There shouldn't be too much Steelers love in New Jersey, right?
Two wines to report on again:
1) Sitios Con Class 2009 Rueda (~9): Ruedas are hit and miss if you're in to the verdejo grape, because they only have to be 50% verdejo and the rest can either be more verdejo, or some other grape to try and lighten the wine, and they don't have to list what it is. To me, this tasted very strongly of Sauvignon Blanc, which is typical for that other 50%, but not what I was hoping for. If I wanted to drink SB (which I don't, usually), I would buy myself some SB. I wouldn't buy this wine again.
2) Bota Box Pinot Grigio 2009 (~14 for 3L): I love some good boxed wine. It's cheap, it lasts a long time, and having wine constantly on tap is a dream for me. Unfortunately, this is not a dreamy box of wine. I love a good Pinot Grigio, but this is not it. The color is off, and the fruity notes have a plastic overtone. This was not a wine well-boxed. The hunt for the perfect boxed wine will have to continue.
