Two wines to report on, both Spanish whites:
1) Muga Rioja Blanco 2009. This was recommended to me at a nice-looking wine shop in Hoboken. The prices seemed right on based on wines I know, love, and drink often, so I splurged a little. My company described it as "syrupy." I will say that compared to cheaper white riojas, this was a bit too thick and heavy. My favorites are Faustino V and Campo Viejo, and both of these are slightly more fragrant and a bit lighter. All in all, this was a good wine, but I think I would save my money and trust the other two if given the opportunity again (~$17).
2) Poema Verdejo. I picked this up for a good price at a discount liquor store, and I heartily recommend it. It's light for Spain and the Rueda region, bright on the tongue, and citrusy. It's been described as refreshing, lively, and balanced. Yum! This could become a staple in my fridge is the price stays right (~$10).
In other news, go Pack go!
