Room 11's Free.

My, it's been a Cappy day.

The first poster for the Cap movie has been released, and I'm having a mild stroke over it. It looks INCREDIBLE, I am head over heels in love with the new uniform, and I'm honestly happy that it doesn't look...comic booky. I know, we've been told this is NOT a gritty war movie, but it looks like it's going to be taking the setting seriously, which is a relief. And I like my Bucky fiesty.

But the reasons listed above aren't really the reason for my excitement.

Here is the new poster.

Go on, bathe in it's glory. The simple text, the muted colors, the last of BLUE!ORANGE and the fact that he's unmasked, showing his humanity. And now the reason why I yelped in public when I first saw the poster.

It's a direct homage to this drawing, which I've seen absolutely everywhere, since I started reading comics.*

Of course, I could be giving the poster too much credit. It's hardly an uncommon pose, and it's a great way to show off the shield and the uniform at the same time. It's also, in my opinion, the most recognizable drawing of Steve out there.

But on the other hand, it feels like a wink. It's like Bubastis showing up briefly in Watchmen. It's a shoutout to the fans, something only the readers would recognize, and it makes me very, very happy to see.

I am so excited for this movie.

*and yet I never noticed how completely fucked up looking the shield is. Ahah. Wow.

good days!, comic books, rambling, captain america/steve rogers, fandom
