So at the beginning of the A-League season, we'd discussed the possibility of travelling interstate to see the Victory boys play. Somehow it snowballed into an actual plan, and on Friday last week, I found myself in a Kia Carnival, which we renamed the "CARNIVALÉ!!!" (with the exclamation marks) on the road to Adelaide.

For those of you who don't know, I'm in Melbourne, in the bottom right corner. Adelaide, which looks like it's just down the road on this map, is in fact, 8 and a half hours drive away. Oh joy.

The cast consisted of:

Tony, Liam (fellow employee of Tony, Nat and Mark, who I'd only just met), Nat Dimo, Mark Potato, Shakalak, and myself, Angebebe. I met up with Tony, Liam, Shakas and Mark on Friday morning and then it was off to G-Town to pick up Nat. From there, it was Ballarat, Horsham, Bordertown and then Adelaide. There was not much in between these towns...

And now for some hilarious photos.

The awe-inspiring view out the window somewhere between Horsham and Adelaide

It was pretty much that, some cows and fields of canola all the way there. THRILLING.

We arrived in Adelaide at about 6:30

Bags were unpacked, costume changes occurred, and then it was time to head off to Hindmarsh stadium for some football action.

There were maybe 200 or so Victory fans who'd made the trek over, but most of them had been ejected by half time, because they are fucking dickheads who think it's cool to throw flares onto the field, right near our keeper. IDIOTS.

Please note on the left, Rodrigo Vargas, the love of my life. He will become important later

GROUP PORTRAIT TIME!

Yeah, nice work morons

The police decided it'd also be a great idea to spray a heap of capsicum spray in the crowd while they ejected the troublemakers. It smelt great!! Thanks Adelaide police!!

So the game was pretty tight until the 80th minute, when Roddy Vargas (love of my life) got on the end of an Adrian Caceres free kick and headed it in for his first A-League goal. We pretty much went spastic, and decided it was the greatest night of our lives. A minute and a half later, Roddy's hand gets in the way of a shot on goal from Diego, and Travis Dodd converted the resulting penalty. A 1-1 draw. Completely devastating.

Nevertheless, we held our "WE ♥ RODDY" sign high after the game, and received a thumbs up from the man in question, which I took to mean, "I LOVE YOU TOO".

The next course of action was obviously drinking. We had to wait for about 20 minutes for all the Adelaide supporters to leave the ground before the police let us out, because Adelaide supporters are completely feral. Good times. We went for a beverage or two and then struggled with the fact that there are only 3 taxis in the whole of Adelaide. We decided to walk in the general direction of our apartment...and camwhore along the way.

Long story short, we got lost, walked in a massive circle, and ended up back at the Clipsal factory.

Nat, Shakas and I snagged the first taxi we could find, leaving the boys to fend for themselves... We eventually all made it home, pizza was eaten, Rage was watched, and then it was sleeps time.

Saturday consisted of breakfast and shopping in the famous Rundle Mall, and then a drive out to the beachside suburb of Glenelg.

The only photo I took of the CARNIVALÉ!!!

This constitutes public art in Adelaide. LOL.

THE MALL'S BALLS!

Glenelg. It kind of reminded me of Port Macquarie, where I grew up.

We had a drink at the pub on the beach, and managed to break every rule on this sign except for the stubbies and flannies one

Ahahahah fags are still funny even in your 20s

We went back to the apartment and after watching Hawthorn knock Adelaide out of the finals, decided dim sims were in order. Adelaide had other plans. We couldn't get a dim sim, EVEN IN CHINATOWN. Tevs Adelaide, tevs.

Torrens River/Lake - I haven't worked out which one it is yet. We named it the "Shit River" so I think I'll stick with that

OK, so this is where things get interesting. Saturday night rolls around, and we had three things on the agenda - the Collingwood v Sydney game, dancing, and gambling. We decided to combine all three and go to "Skycity", aka the Adelaide casino. We got there, found a bar with a big screen and settled in to watch the best game ever in the history of the world. Stephen Curry and Dan Wyllie were there, just hanging out, so obviously Skycity is the place to be.

The Pies won well, so we decided to celebrate with pokies and Jager. GREAT IDEA!!

That goddamn Shakin Bacon machine :/

The beautiful decor

Next up is a series of photos I like to call, "Questionable men in Adelaide and their questionable haircuts"

HOT.

These kids were about 15...

Ahahahahah I don't even know

Drunken gambling at 3am. We know how to live the life

Mark decided to reserve every machine in our section

By about 4am we'd had enough, so joined the queue for a cab. Not before climbing over some plastic barriers we could have just as easily walked around to get to a convenience store for Twisties and Chicken chips.

The Djokovic v Ferrer semi-final in the US Open proved tempting, so we stayed up and watched that and generally acted like children.

I found a cupboard under the stairs which could have been an endless source of Harry-Potter related amusement all weekend. But alas, all I got was this photo.

Sunday was pretty not great. 3 hours of sleep was pretty not great. We were feeling quite seedy, and the prospect of another long drive was not that enticing.

We picked Mark up from the special school on the way :p

This is my "I just ate a really sour Coke bottle" face

We had a few lollies left over...

Canola...awesome...

Last but not least, the highlight of the trip, which was given its own song, the Giant Koala

I'm sure there's more stuff I could include in this, but it's almost hometime, and I've covered all the photos, and the rest of it is just in-jokes that are only funny if you were there at the time so I won't bore you!

In conclusion, I can now add Adelaide to my list of "Places that Melbourne is better than". Also, I have 8 more days of work left. Also, happy birthday to my sister, who is oooooold today :p I think that's it.
