Let's talk about TV. New episode reactions to 90210, Glee, Gossip Girl and House. (Still to come, at some point, Melrose Place and Merlin. Possibly. If I get around to it.)
I really loved this week's episode of Glee - Kurt was fabulous: dancing to Single Ladies first in a leotard and then on a football field with his gear on was just hilarious and sweet. Also, I was very touched by his desire to get his father's approval, to bond with him through football and to make him proud. Moreover, I was impressed by how he summoned enough courage to face him and tell him the truth. That scene was a tear-jerker and it melted my heart. After their talk, I felt relieved, too. The Quinn/Finn situation, in my opinion, is just sad, ridiculous and such a cliche. It speaks volumes about how focusing solely on teaching abstinence is an ineffective way of preventing teenage pregnancy. His ignorance and naivety were unsettling. I mean, when Finn actually bought the jacuzzi story I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. I know he's supposed to be your typical jock: not too bright but with a heart of gold, but seriously? However,I was unable to stay angry with him, especially when I saw that scene with Will. He's just a scared kid who grew up without a father and is about to have a kid of his own. It's great that he managed to find that father figure in Will. Speaking of fathers, I've always thought that, down the line, something would happen between Puck and Finn but I honestly had no idea it had already happened. I felt sorry for Puck. What he did to his friend was awful but being shunned and called a loser by the mother of your unborn child must have hurt. God, I think I've rambled enough about this show. Sorry for my incoherent thoughts, but in all fairness, you did ask for it with your:Let's talk about TV. ;)
Kurt was fabulous! The whole thing about Single Ladies was the greatest thing in the universe. His desire for his dad's approval (and ultimately his dad's approval) was so, so sweet, and realistic, which, given this show, is kind of a rarity. It was wonderful.
There was a couple a few years above me in highschool who got pregnant, and neither of them really knew how it had happened since they used protection. It wasn't until one of the teacher's found out that this protection had been a band-aid over the girl's belly-button that they realised why. I mean, my school even did quite graphic sex ed, and this couple still chose the band-aid over a condom. Some people just have no idea, so I wasn't all that surprised on Finn's reaction, lol. Will and Finn were so cute in this episode, and I like that Will seems to be finding fatherhood through Glee Club instead of through his wife/'family'. It's really sweet.
And Puck! I felt so bad for him! Especially since he was trying to do the right thing. He's such a sweet heart underneath all that bad-ass-ness. :) And I always welcome incoherency, haha. ;) I love reading other people's thoughts on the shows.
OMG!A band-aid? That reminds me of a clinic patient House once treated. She came in for a pelvic exam and when House asked her to show what contraceptive gel she had been using, the woman whipped out a jar of jello. :)
Haha, ikr? It's just ridiculous how many people still have no idea when it comes to birth control/protection. I think people take for granted the fact that it's meant to be 'common knowledge' now, when it actually still isn't.
