Transformers

So here is how I understand this so far. If you really don’t know a whole lot about Transformers, chances are you might like this movie. But if you have a childhood background with these awesome characters, like me, your in for a pretty disappointing ride.
I want to start by saying, I now truly understand why there is such a distain for Michael Bay as a director. He pretty much had all the elements to make a great movie right in front of him here and was some how able to turn it into this big smelly turd of a movie. For all of you who aren’t big movie buffs, Transformers is a Great example of a BAD MOVIE!

Sure, at first glance this film has all of the elements of a great movie: Awesome cast, a good range of characters from the cartoons, Tons one liners, Special effects out the ass, and obviously the kind of budget required for a movie of this scale. Hell they even brought the original voice of Optimus Prime back. Too bad they made him sound like a moron half the time.
Yes Michael Bay had all of these things and its like he took them and crammed them all into this stupid script that not only bumbles along nonsensically but almost tries to avoid any direct focus on the Transformers themselves, at all. As if they were always something that was just happening in the background. I literally had trouble getting a clear view of a Transformer throughout the entire movie. It was frustrating as hell. I kept wanting to turn the camera or something. Ugh!

Michael Bay did pretty much the exact thing he did in Pearl Harbor. He spent too much time developing all these (human) characters. Rather than focusing on what the movie is really suppose to be about. At least according to the title.
What the movie should have been call was Random Encounters with Transformers.

Anyway, theres far more, and much nerdier, things I could bitch about in this movie. Like Megatron looking more like a monster than a robot, Optimus Prime having a mouth WTF!? Bumble Bee not even having a voice until the very end which turned out to sound dumb as hell, the false hope of Soundwave when you see a boom box transform only to find out it’s a super fucking annoying (like verging on Jar Jar annoying) side character, the Autobots made to be bumbling fools, Star Scream only having one tiny encounter with Megatron Boo! :-P
I could go on, But wtf is the point? This movie sucked! End of story. Just one more disappointment to add to the pile of shitty summer movies so far.
If you want to go see a good Summer movie, I recommend Die Hard :-D
