Adventures in sparkly *and* Rainbow polishes . . . including my first attempt at water-marbled nails

Sadly, the sparkles and rainbows didn't happen in the same manicures

So, since it's the holiday season, new nail polishes are coming out like you wouldn't believe, and an ungodly amount of them are sparkly . . . and since I joined the sparkly rainbow boyband train, I generally fail at resisting sparkles.

My wallet hates me right now.

And I agree, water marbling is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun XD You can also use cuticle oil or olive oil on your fingers to protect them from the polish. 8|b

OOOOH! That's a beautiful set! I may have to look for tem online. Pur sephora doesn't carry the whole line; only the magnetics. I am a huge fan of flakies!! (and obviously, of glitters, and holos and all that is sparkly!).

I just found a 5 pack of the sally hansen nail prisms holos(3) and duochrome shimmers (2) for $6 tonight O__o I think I'm going to have to return and grab backups/gifting/swap backups ^^;

These magnetic polishes are my first Nails inc, but they're really nice!

O'll have to try the oils or something--tape feels really wasteful and not all that effective in the long run.

This holiday seems truly to be the time of the crazy glitter polish^_^v

Uhmm want to brain more than that but ... busy is as busy does.

But the house is sort of clean. I haven't managed ANY training at all and OMG it is THIS Sunday. *dies*

... and all I want to do now is my nails. Neeed/want new shades, colours and glitters though *sigh*

Nails are fun! It's almost 10pm and I was going to try water marbling again--it may be a bit late . . . but I don't have to teach tomorrow, so why not??

Wow, so much to say! First off, your water marbling totally came out great for a first attempt! I've heard that water marbling is a waste of polish; do you think it is? And yes, I'd think that Vaseline should be easier than taping and that iridescent glitter over the swirly mani would be great. Did you have a wound on your thumb

So as to not waste comment space: do you have anything you're really pretty ambivalent about? Like, I really dislike blue flash/shimmer sometimes, etc.

I like those marbles a lot! i don't do the false nails, but if I did, I imagine marbling would be a) easier and b) MUCH easier to clean up! But those are gorgeous, and the colors unexpected

Thanks! I've tried it again, and it came out better but I'm not quite happy with it yet ^^; No wound on the thumb; just unfortunate pooling of red at my cuticle

I'm sorry polish hunting is unsatisfying :( I know that while there's clearly a market for blinged out nail art, the colors tend to be pretty conservative--no fun for a green-lover. Let me know if there's something you'd like me to send along to you ^_^v

I need to redo mine--they're currently my second attempt at marbling rainbow colors (which came out somewhat better, I think), but I recently stumbled upon a mess of the old sally hansen nail prisms (duochrome pearls and some kind of aggressive linear holos), and want to see if they're as awesome on the nail as they are in the bottle..
