exciting things

After a couple months of sitting in a box, my LaCie 160G external hard drive is unpacked, partitioned, and (I think) filled with all the music that was ripped onto my laptop or my work computer. Music will stay on my work computer, since the hard drive's needlessly big, but I will now have a new paradigm for listening to music at home. It will take some getting used-to, but I'm excited about the ease of access to all my Scottish tunes or Scandinavian rock. :)

I'm going to try cross-country skiing at the end of January, for the first time! I loved downhill skiing when I was young, and I loved water skiing during high school, so I'm eager to try the third major kind of skiing. A group of my dancing friends are spending a weekend in upstate NY. The group is filled with lovely and fascinating people of whom I'm incredibly fond and with whom I'm excited to spend time skiing, dancing, and eating!

My birthday-day was wonderful. I had to work until 3, and I was frantically trying to finish a deposition digest before the long holiday weekend; that was not pleasant. But after I got out of work, I met chlomar and helped her make thoughtful and efficient progress through her Christmas shopping list. I love picking presents for people, and it was fun to help a friend be productive! Then we went to RAW, the sushi bar & sake lounge fronted by windows with red-backlit bamboo poles; sushi was just the thing after a December filled with delicious but heavy baked goods. Making a last shopping stop, we had mochas extravagantly topped with whipped cream and dusted with chocolate powder at Border's, then went to JLR's for her latke fest. I consumed numerous latkes, saw hvane, drank wine, heard the most elaborately-sung birthday wishes in my life so far, wore a Turkish tiara, and ate way too many slices of red velvet cake. Yay to everything! :)
