The Oscars: I've never watched them before, so I missed the beginning and didn't realize the host did so LITTLE for the rest of the evening. ::sigh:: It needed way more Jon Stewart and way fewer women in evening gowns (despite the loveliness), for it to be Not So Boring. Still want to see Munich; now REALLY want to see Good Night, and Good Luck after realizing it had David Strathairn (i.e., Whistler)! Kinda want to see Walk the Line, too, after hearing clips of the music and remembering how quirky the Phoenix family is.
Blah. Didn't really want to come into work today, but I spent the morning chatting with Gray about iPods and various other people about the webpage. And my Amazon package came! :)
Gimme Fiction -- a Spoon album, after hearing a catchy song once when Mark's iPod provided the mix for pool at grumpy_sysadmin's
The Asian Grocery Store Demystified, on recommendation from franzeska, to expand my cooking repertoire; looks like it has lots of nifty little descriptive paragraphs, although I was really hoping for color photographs, heh
Perilous Gard, a fantasy rec from TOJ, to fill out my $25, and just in time...
...because I finished Ring of Swords yesterday. Thoughts on it are here.
And you think the score's set but you can't truly see...
I wish that every choice I make about how to spend my time didn't sacrifice two or three other things I'd like to do, and I wish that I had a few more pieces of furniture [coffee table? chairs? a cute half-circle end table like tanglethis?] and a few more decorations [definitely at least curtains] for my flat.
ETA: Another odd thing: I haven't had coffee in 2-3 weeks. A couple weeks ago, when my energy was completely sapped by that flu-touched cold, I avoided *all* my vices, and I've been casually avoiding the desiccating effect of coffee since then. I miss the smooth flavor of a latté, but I like the idea of a periodic detox.
