Yesterday Ethan and I went on a road trip up to the Chicago Area to visit Willow Creek Church. We had gone there for the ONE leadership conference a couple years ago and have been wanting to go back ever since. It's such a huge church and their ministry is working in so many ways.... We got some more information on their 18 to 20something ministry called Axis and hope to go back just for that as well. I'm interested to see what they do and how they run it, so that maybe we can bring somethings back here to Lincoln. Also since it's such a huge church I'm interested to see how they still bring everyone in and get them connected.
After Willow we went to Northbrook to eat at Stir Crazy... The service there was soo poor. It seems to really have gone down hill, but the food remains great. We went in and put our name in... Guy1 takes our name as Guy2 comes up... Guy1 asks, "would you like to take them to their seats?" and Guy2 responds, "no." LOL so Guy1 grabs our menus and finds a seat and takes us himself. Afterwards the waitress forgets to bring us a fortune cookie so we ask for one and she said, "Oh just go up from to the host table and ask for one." So we go up there and we look at Guy3 and he calls for Guy2 and Guy2 comes back.. and he said "Oh just help yourself they're in the white wok pot thing" So we go to the hostess table and find it and help ourselves. It was soo slow, and it seemed like NO ONE wanted to be there. But like I said, the food was still great, and the atmosphere is pretty all though it was getting a little run down.
We left after Lunch and went to Downtown Chicago... we took the first exit and drove through the city to avoid traffic on the highway which was a nice little drive. We saw a lot of interesting stores from Wigs, to polish food venders.. and interesting signs which are all in our
photo album.
In Chicago itself we went to the
Millennium Park and had a mini photoshoot, we soaked our feet in a small stream they had there and of course went to see the bean.
All in All it was a fantastic trip and we hope to go back again soon.
